I love this vacuum. I just got it yesterday and I put it together and had it going within minutes. I vacuumed my whole house (2500 square feet) in 15 minutes. It's lightweight and the suction is awesome. I also used it on my furniture to get pet hair and it worked awesome. I am a cleaning lady and I can't wait to use it on Monday at my first client's house!
The 50 foot cord is great because you just plug into the middle of your house and you never have to unplug, just keep going until it's done. It even works on plush carpet as it's a hard plastic, it just runs over it sucking all the dirt up!
Downside: it doesn't have a horsetail brush for wood floors as to not scratch them. Looking for one of those right now!

Pro-Team Super QuarterVac HEPA Backpack Vacuum Cleaner Review

My wife and I moved into a new two-story home 3 months ago. In our one story home we used a Kenmore brand upright which we still have and after 8 years of use it still works very well. Our dilemma is with the two story house and stairway. We went from a 2,400 sqft home to a 4,700 sqft home. Lugging the good old Kenmore up and down the stairs and covering all the nooks and crannies, including the stairway, is quite a workout. My wife and daughter rely on me to move the vac when it's time to clean.
So I sought out reviews on a backback vac, after all that's what the commercial cleaners use right. Consumer Reports only covers canisters and uprights and all other reviews covered commercial applications, so not a lot of homeowner info to go by. So what do you do? Make the plunge and hope it works.
Well after two cleanings we are VERY impressed! This think sucks and we can vacuum the house in half the time it takes with our upright. Besides carpet we have wood and tile floors plus a pet that, unfortunately, sheds. We can vacuum quicker than using a broom and dustpan. This thing is great and as quite (by vacuum standards) as our Kenmore. We have stressed wood floors, ceramic and natural stone tiled floors along with looped carpeting. I suggest getting the optional wood floor 14" attachment and the floor duster (has a cloth mitt) for wood shutters or blinds... yes it cleans them as well.
A little cumbersome at first getting this to fit on your back but once you're set tell people to get out of your way... you will be done in no time! By the way most of our neighbors use cleaning services. We're cheap and prefer to do it ourselves at our convenience. That's how we justified the cost.

I've been using this vacuum for the better part of a year now, and wanted to spread the word about it! Canister-style vacuums are better than uprights for use on hard floors, but they are cumbersome to maneuver. This unit is carried on your body like a backpack, with shoulder straps and a waist harness, so only the power cord trails behind you.
Although you must carry the weight of the machine, the design is actually much better for someone (like me) with back problems because it is easier to maintain a proper body position. (Ever noticed how you lean forward when you're vacuuming? That is terrible for your lower back!) The machine is also very lightweight (ten pounds or so?) and well-distributed across the back; it should be manageable for most adults. All of this really comes together when you get to your stairs. For that job, I use only the flexible hose (no extension wand) and the small accessory tools. I kneel on one step, and can comfortably reach the next couple of steps by hand. I still can't believe how easy that job has become for me.
Another outstanding feature -- even carried so close to the ears, this machine is quieter than any other I have used.
The design is not perfect. In particular, the joint of the extension wand to the flexible hose is a problem. It takes muscle to attach the two pieces, and they can work loose during use. Storing the power cord is also a nuisance -- it's not retractable like most canisters, and there are not even pegs to wind it around like a standard upright. A little padding on the shoulder straps would be nice, too.
Finally, I have seen canister vacuums that come with a rotating brush attachment for use on carpet. This vacuum has an accessory that is meant for carpets, but high-quality, plush carpeting needs to be agitated. I have an upright for the carpeted second floor in my home. If I could find that accessory, I'd pitch the other machine completely.
I hope Sanitaire will work on those features in future models because backpack vacuums deserve a bigger market share. I'd like to see this machine get its due notice. In the meantime, I highly recommend this unit for anyone with mostly hard flooring in their homes.
