Shark PS380 Wet/Dry Power Scooper Review

Shark PS380 Wet/Dry Power Scooper
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Just a few days ago -on the day I bought mine- I spotted only one user review for this item, and it was very very negative. And then as I was frist editing mine I saw only one that's very positive. That seems to be because there are two separate listings, the other showing the trademark name "Grab 'n Bag(tm) Powered Scooper" Amazon really should combine these.
I have to say this product is NOT for me. But I believe there are people who might get a lot out of it. I spotted it remaindered at the the store named after a day of the week. The price I paid was less than the Amazon price for the XSB380 refill bags. And my nearby TM store had those cheap too. I do live in a household with pets, so I gave it a work-out in just a couple of days. It does what it promises. But in no way does it do a better job than the human hand. Turn any bag inside-out over your hand, and pick up a mess - many dog owners are very familiar with that drill. Unless you're outdoors where no one cares, you still have to come back with a paper towel and clean the floor or other surface. This tool automates a process very much like that inside-out bag. You still have to wipe, and you still have to deal with closing and disposing of the bag.
If you're someone who has difficulty with such clean up tasks because they're "yucky" then maybe this IS the product for you. It can help with perhaps 90% of the "yuck". Or perhaps if you're partially disabled and can't pick things up that way. But if you're someone who isn't bothered by "yucky" ... well, even at the terrific remaindered price I got, I plan to give mine away.
I don't need it; but I can imagine it being helpful to some.

Hoover Widepath All Terrain Floor Cleaner with SpinScrub Brush System, Blue - F7458-900 Review

Hoover Widepath All Terrain Floor Cleaner with SpinScrub Brush System, Blue - F7458-900
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This carpet steam cleaner sucks a lot of water and is awesome! I was searching and searching for the cheapest F7452900 but they were all over $200 so I had decided that I would just go with the non package model (same thing without all the accessories) F7412900. This led me to my local Sears who had the cheapest F7412 around. Got there and saw this F7458 that I hadn't heard of on Amazon reviews. Turned out that other than the slightly different color and box it comes in, the F7458 is the Sears specific model, but is exactly the same as the F7452(I guess the legacy marketing partnership of Sears/Hoover is still in effect after all these decades). BUT IT WAS ONLY $185 BRAND NEW! *At least* $50 cheaper than the non-sears model. I highly recommend buying one at Sears. You have 90 days to return it and you have the option of a Sears maintenance plan/warranty extension.
I love this steam cleaner and I'm glad I didn't get the non accessorized model. It totally smokes the Bissell Proheat that I use to use (which just soaks the carpet and washes all the dirt DOWN, and doesn't suck up much water or dirt).
The F7458900 has a dark blue base, shades of grey everywhere else, and bright green side and main brushes. It's about 21.5 lbs without water, so just assume +7lbs more when full with a gallon of water to equal about 28. A good amount of weight for brushing and getting good suction, yet had no problems maneuvering. For anyone interested, it was pulling about 10.5 amps while running on my KillaWatt meter (I don't know why advertisements for electrical equipment don't list power usage/requirements).
These package models include the additional accessories such as floor squeegee which mounts on the machines front suction, the rotating power brush for the handheld, a crevice tool, a utility tool (smaller version of power brush without rotating brushes for using in places such as your car), hose/tool mount (which hangs on back of machine or on a hanger in the closet), hard/smooth floor machine brushes, 3 rotating scouring pads for handheld, upgraded rubber lined wheels, 16oz. of Hoover Floormate hard floor solution, 16oz. of Hoover Ultra carpet/upholstery solution, and the upgraded clear more flexible hose. It has the heater spray, but that is only for carpet spray and not the handheld spray. Hell I would buy this package over the base model just because of the upgraded hose- it is super flexible and not the cheap solid gray plastic (will surely crack) of the base model. I also like that the wheels have a slight design to them, kind of like solid spokes; unlike the base model which has the hollow "big wheel" like plastic wheels.
Operation is a snap. The clean water tank holds about a gallon of water as well as has the ~16oz. separate tank for the solution. The machine automatically proportions solution to water during operation. The tank simply snaps into the upright portion of the machine. There are little spring loaded valves for each tank at the bottom. It has a fold out carrying handle which is what snaps into place to hold the tank secure. There is a gasketed 1/4 turn fill cap for the water and solution tanks. The dirty water tank sits below that, held to the machine base by 2 quick open/close plastic latches. It also has a fold out handle, which folds forward to hold the top on the tank. The tank top has an o-ring. It has a "permanent" plastic screen filter installed in it (I recommend putting a thin piece of foam over this to protect it; although it rinses clean no problem). The dirty tank also contains a float which rises and blocks of suction when it is full (you'll hear it when it's full). To access the dirty water tank you have to tilt back the handle so that you can lift it up/out. On the handle there is an on/off switch, a rinse-only/wash switch, and the squeeze trigger for dispensing spray. There is also a non-removable filter underneath the machine which slide in/out for cleaning. A nice little feature is that the main brushes stop spinning when the handle is upright, so it can sit there and not "burn" a brush pattern into your carpet. The brushes have a manual 3 speed selector, off for cleaning spills, low for hard/smooth surfaces, and high for carpet. I just leave it in high all the time that they are always in use and will not become stuck after no use. Remember to use water no warmer than you can hold your hand under, as hot water causes plastics/rubbers to swell and causes leaks/failure over time.
The hand tool hose has 2 hoses, one for vacuum suction(into flip top snap in port on the front of the base) and one for water/solution(small snap in hose on the side of the base). The small solution hose has a clip to hold it out of the way attached to the main hose when not in use. Ensure this little hose is not kinked during storage as it will soften and then hold that kink during use and restrict water flow (mine came new out of the box kinked a bit). The hose is 8' long and the upgraded hose stretches a little. Tools just snap on/off of the hose. The trigger on the hose does not seem cheap like others I've seen. The powerbrush has two rotating brushes which spin pretty quick. The spray comes out at about a 60 degree angle.
To carpet clean you have to go over the area at least 3 times, although the manual says 4; squeeze trigger while walking forward to spray and brush the carpet, stop momentarily, keep holding trigger while backing up to brush/rinse (machine automatically stops dispensing soap/solution), and then walk forward and back again without trigger to vacuum up water. After these 4 steps the carpet if left barely damp and mine was dry in about an hour. Obviously you can go over the same area as much as you like for more cleaning/drying, and you can walk slower/faster based on how good you need to clean/brush/rinse/dry an area. A full tank of water lasted for about 1/2 of a 10x10' room for me as I push pretty slow. 4oz. of solution lasted for at least that room size.
And then of course there is cleaning the machine once you're done (unless you don't care about your machine lasting); which is also a breeze. Both tanks are removable, the front vacuum port lifts out, and the brushes pull right out. Everything rinses clean with just warm water. I fill the water and solution tanks with a little water and carpet clean and hand tool clean a little bit to flush detergent/dirt out before breaking down and rinsing parts. This will keep everything fresh and clean, especially good for seals/valves. My only gripe here is that the plastic around the brush assembly does not quickly remove for cleaning (uses 2 screws) and has to be wiped off, as well as the bottom on the base.
A few additional cons: Water and solution supply tank valves are not at the rearmost position of the tanks, and since the handle/tanks are tilted back while operating, a little bit is left that will not be usable by the machine. The tool caddy has a little bit of play in it's mounting. The squeegee has fallen out of the tool caddy during use quite a few times. The o-ring in the top of the dirty tank has tiny gaps at its ends which would cause a slight loss in available suction. There is nowhere provided to store the hardfloor brush, utility tool, and scouring pad attachments. If there were a little more clearance provided, I would not have to tilt the handle back to remove the dirty tank. The model/serial number can easily be removed/replaced by unscrupulous dealers (I had an experience with a dealer selling remanufactured machines as "new", and changing around parts to make a machine). There is no dust cover for the hose solution hose port on the base. Dirty water tank top cover could be held in a little more firmly to ensure max suction. But these are just minor issues which could be improved upon and don't really affect the awesomeness of this machine.

KRUD KUTTER AR32 Adhesive Remover, 32-Ounce Review

KRUD KUTTER AR32 Adhesive Remover, 32-Ounce

This stuff is worth the wait. I googled how to get adhesive off of a glue down floor. That old black glue that is like tar... well this is the stuff. Home depot and/or lowes may have the regular krud kutter, but this is different. Made for removing adhesive. Works on other stuff, too, but crazy easy to remove 30 year old glue. And the stuff is environmentally friendly and doesn't stick to high heaven. Smells kinda nice and won't burn your hands off. Truly miraculous stuff. I don't take the time to rate stuff, but I had to give props to this product.

Metropolitan Vac 'N' Blo Compact Vacuum Review

Metropolitan Vac 'N' Blo Compact Vacuum
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
METRO VAC' N BLO... this is THE IDEAL TOOL for cleaning any automobile!!! It'll suck up anything just as the manufacturer promises. It more than blows, IT JET BLASTS warm DRY AIR that'll blow my wifes long hair back at over 10ft away!!! This is great for cleaning automotive air ducts. And if you really care about [your] vehicle (inside as well as out) and want to keep it running cool at its best AND easy to work on then I highly recommend the Vac' N Blo. Carefully wash your [cooled] engine, then BLO it dry. Do this quarterly [or more frequently for heavy use vehicles] and you wont regret it. Just use common sense and be sure to dry every engine part after rinsing, especially the electronic components Before starting the engine.
------------------------------Now the reason for ranking 4 out of 5. ---------------------------------------------
The hoses and accessory tools are not pliable damage free plastics! In my opinion the standard hose length should be 12ft.. The included 6' is too short for some locations and the optional 24' is overkill. I think METRO could afford better quality in every step of manufacturing - not just in the main motor and cannister.
I think this product would be an easier sell if the total quality were addressed.
It should also include a resting platform (not at an additional price for one with wheels) or better still (and cheaper) weld a couple of simple stoppers to the underbelly...
That's my opinion -- Excuse my enthusiasm. NO REGRETS !!!!

Metropolitan Vacuum Cleaner Co., Inc.: Committed to the American DreamIn December of 1939, Hyman Gulker pawned his pocket watch and gave $50 to his daughter and son-in-law, Pearl and Israel Stern. That was the beginning of Metropolitan Vacuum Cleaner Company, the family's American Dream.

Before he founded Metro, Israel sold vacuum cleaners door to door. He was such a great salesman, in fact, that the president of the last company he worked for offered him $100 to come back into the fold. To the president's great disappointment, however, Israel's wife had the last word. She said, "Nothing doing. We're on our own now!"

Since the day those fateful words were spoken, the Metropolitan Vacuum Cleaner Co., Inc. has grown from a small retail store in Bronx, NY, that sold and repaired vacuum cleaners into a multidivisional corporation with an ever-expanding range of products.

What's in the BoxVac 'N' Blo; six-foot hose; carpet/floor tool, two 20-inch extension wands; Pik-All nozzle; crevice tool; dusting brush; blower nozzle; inflator adapter; four-piece micro cleaning tool kit; shoulder strap; and reusable filter bag.

This cleaner is GREAT! I have been a faithful use of this product for almost a year now. I am a lifer now. Why? The other day... I sat down at the computer with some freshly made pasta in red sauce ready to eat.... except I am clumsy and dropped some on the floor. I didn't have ANY carpet cleaner and I remembered that this item has an Oxygen cleaner in it. I tried it (not knowing it works on carpets) and VOILA ~ the stain is GONE! The scent is pretty strong and as often as I clean, it can be quite bothersome, but WORTH it.

This product is the best stain remover I've found. I have a cat who throws up hairballs and the stain left behind is tough to remove. SPOT SHOT seems to dissolve the stain effectively. I spray it on the stain, leave it a minute, then rub the surface lightly with a clean paper towel. After that, I put the paper towel over the stain and press on it with my foot until all the product is soaked into the towel. Sometimes I have to repeat the process. It does leave behind a chemical smell that lingers for a while. It has never disappointed.

Ladybug Tekno 2350 Vapor Steam Cleaner - WITHOUT Trolley Review

I am a 61 yr. old female, high end, quality buyer who likes a good value but is willing to pay top dollar for exceptional items. I use this 2350 several times a week to kill germs that cause allergies and to sterilize infants toys at the church nursery once a week. This unit has not been dependable and has been sent back to the distributor 2 times and now it needs work again. I am on a first name basis with the repairmen. The malfunction light comes on intermittently when nothing is wrong and the on/off switch burned all the way down to the controls and melted the visible plastic cover. The glue has come loose that holds the display description to the machine. I have owned 2 inexpensive steam cleaners over the years and have not had any trouble with them. I often need to use them as standby's to finish the job.

Cordless Swivel Sweeper - Original As Seen on TV by Swivel Sweeper Review

Cordless Swivel Sweeper - Original As Seen on TV by Swivel Sweeper
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)

Updated: January 7, 2006
I have now owned the product for six months. I have nothing to change in my review. I am surprised that people are having so many problems with this product. My unit still works fine; the battery holds a charge; the pole has not broken; the handle has not broken. Maybe my unit is not typical. However, you do need to have realistic expectations for this product. The Swivel Sweeper is not a new revolutionary cleaning apparatus worthy of a patent (as the info commercial implies). It is just an electric sweeper for quick clean ups. If you want the thorough results that a vacuum provides--use a vacuum.
Original Review
I have owned my Swivel Sweeper for two weeks. If you are looking for something better than your dust pan, this is the product for you. If you are looking for something to replace your vacuum cleaner, you are going to be disappointed. The pros: light weight, high quality, cordless, rechargeable, easy to use, maneuverable. The cons: overpriced, can't ever replace a vacuum, time-consuming periodic cleaning. The product is just what I was looking for: a cordless, rechargeable, electric dust pan that I could keep in the kitchen next to the refrigerator and pull out twice a week and sweep the kitchen floor. I have a light colored tile floor and it shows every little particle of dirt. In addition, my cat spreads Friskies on the floor and the sweeper picks up those nicely. The Swivel Sweep is a fairly high quality product. All the parts look well designed, fairly durable (they are just plastic), and fit together well.
The Swivel Sweep is oversold on the info commercial (as to be expected). It will never take the place of a vacuum cleaner. It is not a vacuum cleaner. It creates no suction. It is simply a sweeper. I would summarize it as an electric dust pan. The product has four rotating brushes that sweep items into a small centralized dust pan with openings on all four sides. The Swivel Sweeper is much quieter than a traditional vacuum cleaner; however, one would not use it in a room with a sleeping baby as advertised--it is not that quiet. It makes a tone with medium-high pitched whine. The picture on the box shows the product being used to sweep dirt from a carpet after a house plant has been toppled--forget it! That is not a good use of this product. Use a real vacuum cleaner for that job. This product is really only effective on hard surfaces. A dust pan is not what I would use on a carpet. Yes, you could pick up small items sitting on the surface of a carpet like paper clips, but realistically, to clean a carpet adequately, one should use a vacuum cleaner with strong suction and a powerful beater brush to separate the carpet strands. The Swivel Sweeper has neither of these. The Swivel Sweep is not comparable to a real vacuum cleaner. The Swivel Sweeper has problems picking up some very small items even on hard surfaces. Sometimes an item will shoot across the floor instead of going into the dust pan. I find myself going over the same area multiple times to pick up some items (but no big deal).
Because the product is fairly new, it is a bit overpriced. I think $29 would be more appropriate. I would expect to see it at Target in a year or two for $19.95. Emptying the dust pan is easy. Cleaning the sweeper is not. The Swivel Sweeper comes with a "cleaning tool" which is nothing more than a thread cutter/seam ripper (if you know what that is). Hair (human hair) gets wound around all four brushes and needs to be periodically cut and vacuumed out. The manual says "on occasion" this cleaning need to be done. The manual indicates the battery will last 45 minutes on one charge. That seems reasonable since I am still on the original charge and have used the sweeper about 10 times.
Overall, I am pleased with the product.

Bissell Healthy Home Vacuum - 5770

i wasn't too excited about spending $300 on a vacuum, but i had to see if the hype was valid. so i bought this vacuum with every intention of returning it when i proved it wasn't any diffrent from my old dirt devil. well, that did not happen. after getting home and assembling this product (very easy) i brought out my old vacuum (had it about 2 yrs)emptied the dirt cup, took the filter off and banged as much dust out of it as i could (creating quite a mess in the process)and vacuumed my house as i normally would. then i broke out the healthy home. still skeptical, i started to re vacuum my house. i have 2 dogs, and i don't think i've ever gotten all the hair up ever. with this vacuum i had to empty the dirt cup twice while vacuuming (which is also unbelievably easy, and no mess at all). i was disgusted at how much dirt was left in my carpet after using my old vacuum. after i finished with the bissell, i got down on the floor to see how much dog hair was still embedded in the carpet. i couldn't find any. so i did the only logical thing i could think of... i threw the dirt devil away and put the bissell in the closet. did i mention how quiet this machine is? it's quiet. i love this vacuum.

I bought the product knowing little about steamers. What a pleasant introduction! I'm using it to cut through years of accumulated dirt and mold in my apartment. I can get into those places one forgets about, with great results. With its size and ease of use--the manual explains the parts and the process clearly--the McCulloch steamer is ideal for the urban apartment, and very easy to store. The most priceless thing about it is its non-toxicity. Good-bye to harmful cleaners. Hello to a green machine.

Fresh Wave Odor Neutralizing Carpet Shake, 6-Ounce Containers (Pack of 6) Review

Fresh Wave Odor Neutralizing Carpet Shake, 6-Ounce Containers (Pack of 6)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I definitely noticed the difference each time I added this treatment, so much so that I'm adding this review here even though I bought this stuff at Bed, Bath & Beyond.
Earlier this year I acquired a mid-century modern Rya rug, a natural wool shag that has spent most of its life in storage and thus had taken on a distinct musty smell. This is the only carpet on otherwise hardwood floors so it's clear where the odor was coming from. When I had a pregnant friend over and she politely but firmly insisted I keep the window open on a cool day I knew I had to do something about the slightly vomity stale smell, which I would notice upon entering the place and then forget about and less sensitive noses would not apparently pick up on (or were attached to mouths too polite to say). I started with the crystals and opening the window each day, which didn't do much.
The first shake treatment not only reduced the mustiness 40%, the rug felt much nicer and fuller after treatment. The container was enough for three or four treatments (it's a big area rug - 8 x 12) and before this last treatment I had it down to about 10% of the previous odor - I believe I have just delivered the knockout punch.
Bonus - my kids are super picky about scents (they hate them) and did not complain even while I was doing the treatment. It's a nice fresh scent, natural.
So here is a rug that a reputable chem dry outfit had said they couldn't help restore (they gave it a cursory cleaning and left without charging me) that is now nearly as good as new, and certainly as good as it gets for a rug from the 1960's.
