New Hoover Heated Steam Vacuum Fingertip Clean Surge Function For Spot And Heavy Traffic Areas Review
Average Reviews:
(More customer reviews)I have a dog with muddy feet and the occasional accident, and large expanses of beige carpeting. Not a great scenario! I purchased the Hoover Steam Vac 2 years ago at a local big box retailer, because I couldn't wait for delivery. For a small investment, about two hundred dollars, I've saved thousands of dollars on carpet. Once I followed the instructions on assembly, it was very easy to use. I simply fill the fresh water container with hot water from the tap and 1T of oxyclean (not recommended by Hoover but works great for me!), assure the waste water container is firmly sealed, plug it in and turn it on. The motion is just like vacuuming, however with each pull you can see dirty water filling the waste container. When the container is full, the suction ceases and you have to empty the waste water to continue.
It's cleaned my carpeting better than any professional cleaning I've had, and I'm glad I can choose the cleaning agent rather than have toxic chemicals in my home. It's very handy when I feel my rugs are looking dingy and want to quickly clean before guests. There are only two drawbacks I've encountered:
-Occasionally, the main vac loses suction. Other buyers have indicated it has something to do with the airtight seal on the waste water compartment. If I'm in a bind, I'll simply slot in the handheld attachment, which works great but takes longer to clean with. The problem seems to resolve itself over time.
-The lever to tilt the vac handle broke early, like the first or second use. It's annoying to worry about the handle falling when storing the vacuum.
Overall, though, because of the convenience and effectiveness of the Steam Vac at such a reasonable price, I must give it at least four stars!
