THANE H20 MOP STEAM CLEANER Review

THANE H20 MOP STEAM CLEANER
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
While nothing will ever really replace the Cinderella-style of hands and knees scrubbing, this mop certainly is better than pulling out the regular mop and bucket of luke warm brown water.
It is sturdy enough and easy to assemble. its easy to use and does a great job of cleaning without chemicals. Sticky juice spills in the kitchen come up quickly and easily and the sanitizing feature is great for the area just in front of the bathroom toilet where men can never seem to avoid. lol.
The cord was plenty long enough for the rooms in my house, since I dont live in a mansion with huge rooms. And I was able to clean my kithen ceramic tile in less time than it took my husband to go outside and smoke a leisurly cigarette. The floor dried much faster than with regular mopping but I could see spots of dampness here and there when I was done so I am not sure how safe i would feel using it on hardwood floors.
The cons: it only comes with 2 reusable pads. So after the kitchen and bathroom I had to stop and wait for the wash before I could do the hall bath and the downstairs bath. Plus I felt I could redo the kitchen a 2nd time since the pad was so filthy the first time around. So you really do need to buy more pads.
Also, it does NOT do grout. If you have a spill in the grout lines the best you can do is 'sanitize' the spot (holding the mop there for 8 seconds) to loosen the dirt and then manually wiping clean with a rag or paper towel.
Finally, while the swivel head is easy to manever, it really does not get into corners all that well. And much like regular mopping, you have to sweep well or vacuum first or else you will just be pushing around crumbs or hair which will collect along baseboards and corners.
Since this is a great novelty mop, and since I love that I dont have to buy cleaners, I would definetely recommend this mop for people who like to keep their floors clean, and are sick of the mop and bucket style of cleaning. My floors are cleaner and I look forward to using it again when those stupid pads go through the wash again. lol.

Bionaire Steam Mop w/ Interchangable Base Review

Bionaire Steam Mop w/ Interchangable Base
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I love this mop!!! I was looking at the Shark Steam Mop but after reading the reviews about customer service and the all-too-common 6-month life span I was easily persuaded to look at my other options. The Bionaire has a steady stream of steam when you turn it on and all you have to do is push. Other mops required pumping, ouch! This one is also able to be used as a hand-held steamer. Hallelujah! And comes with a carpet glider and triangle head, too! I haven't used it beyond it's main base yet though. I will definitely update when I do.
All-in-all it was love at first mop! I can't wait to go home and clean tonight. The floors still look great one week after their first steam. We have hardwood floors and marble in the bathroom. The hardwood floors haven't looked so good in years!!! The marble in the bathroom is so clean :) Not only can you see the cleanliness of the floors but you can feel it...even after a week! I highly recommend a steam mop and although this one is still new for me, I am very happy with my purchase.

This product only does a fair job of cleaning. I have tile that is less than one year old and the grout only looked a little cleaner after 3 uses.
It leaves a film of water on the surface that takes at least 15 minutes to dry and some spots have to be wiped up by hand.
Would I buy this again, no. Jean

Thane USA H20 Steam-Cleaning Mop Review

Thane USA H20 Steam-Cleaning Mop
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have done a lot of research on different steam mops. I looked at prices and read hundreds of reviews and finally settled on the H2O Steam Mop.
When it came I tested it on every floor surface in my home including ceramic tile, wood floors, and vinyl flooring. What I found was that it works very well on most floors. Wood...eh...it was okay, but on my old-fashioned, textured vinyl it was AMAZING! I live in an old home and I haven't replaced the hallway vinyl flooring yet, which I hate because I have to get down on my hands and knees to scrub in the nooks and crannies (which really collect grime). This mop, when used properly and slowly, cleaned the floor so well it looks almost new! Ceramic tile, also great. It even cleaned the grout. My floors look better than they have in a looong time.
I have 2 big dogs, a daughter with lots of friends, and a small pool in the backyard. I own one of those "spray-and-mop" products and it is fine for quick cleaning (several times a day!) but it leaves a film on the vinyl floor, especially used over and over. This steam cleaner uses only water so there are no chemicals, no bucket to fill, and it thoroughly cleans without leaving any residue. With a busy life and no great love for constant cleaning, this steam cleaner makes my life soooo much easier.
I have read reviews that say this type of mop is junk and it doesn't work well, but as far as ease of use and level of cleaning ability I think it is well worth the money. It does leave some water on the floor, but no more than a regular mop. I would highly recommend this steam mop for anyone with kids, pets, and/or high traffic areas. I don't know how I survived this long without it!

Reliable T1 Steamboy Steam Floor Mop Cleaner Review

Reliable T1 Steamboy Steam Floor Mop Cleaner
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This has got to be the best mop I have ever used, bought etc. I have pergo floors in my kitchen, foyer and bathrooms and have had to use special floor cleaners for them. Even with buying these cleaners the floors always seemed to have a film left on them or streaks. I even called Pergo customer service to ask them how to get the dirt out of the crevices and they acted like I had three heads. I saw this mop advertised on a commercial and thought I would give it a try. When I received it my husband assembled it in a matter of minutes, I filled it with water, put on the microfiber pad, plugged it in and away I went. I have never had cleaner floors. It takes me maybe 5-7 minutes to do all my floors and they are sparkling. They dry extremely fast and there is no residue or film. When you are finished just take off the pad and throw it in the washing machine. I was expecting company and cleaned the floors before they came over and my friend thought I had new floors! I would highly recommend this mop to anyone. It also works great on carpets to freshen them up or to clean up a spill.

H2O Disposable Steam Mop Pads Review

H2O Disposable Steam Mop Pads

These disposable pads are wonderful. The H2O Steam Mop comes with 2 reuseable pads, but once used they have to be washed and it does not take to long for them to become worn and somewhat ragged. It is nice to have an alternative and also to be able to dispose of the pad after use especially when used on a very soiled area. I recommend these.

Shark S3250 Quick and Easy Steam Mop Review

Shark S3250 Quick and Easy Steam Mop
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
After reading the two negative reviews, I almost returned this mop unopened. But then I figured I'd at least try it first. I really can't figure out if the two negative reviews had bad mops or just completely unrealistic expectations. When I mop using a traditional mop, it's a hard & dirty job. I end up chipping at caked-on things with my finger nail. I get sweaty. My arms get a great work-out. It takes forever for my floors to clean & I have to keep the kids & pets away for an hour. That is hard cleaning.
This mop does not require any of the above. It is super easy and super light. It is so light-weight that it does not require any real arm pumping. I can't get over the person complaining about moving it seven times. I wonder if she was activating the steam mechanism? You could move this thing 20 times over the same spot and your arm still wouldn't be tired. No matter what type of cleaning you are doing, you go over the same strip more than once: vacuuming, cleaning toilets, counters, mopping, even something cosmetic like removing nail polish from your nails... The first swipe loosens the dirt and the second cleans it up. This is the same. It takes less than 10 seconds to go over a section twice.
I have two kids, a dog, and three cats. We track a lot of dirt into the house and have frequent spills. My floors feel like a full-time job some days. I have 1000 sq. ft of laminate and porcelain tile on my first floor. I did my entire downstairs in less time than it takes me to traditionally mop the kitchen alone. My floors are VERY clean & they dried almost instantly. All sticky stuff was loosened and lifted. I was surprised that ground-in dirt in the textured spots in my tile noticeably cleaned-up. I have been on my hands & knees with a toothbrush and abrasive cleaners trying to loosen that stuff up. I won't say it came up 100%, but it is noticeably lighter. And this is 10 years worth of life being ground into the textured tile.
My floors look and are clean. I am neither sweaty nor tired. My only complaints are: 1) the water reservoir could be larger. I had to refill a few times, which is why I gave this 4 stars instead of 5 stars. 2) my floors had more of a dull finish rather than shiny. I added a couple tablespoons of white vinegar to the water reservoir and this seemed to combat the dullness. I would imagine if you had a squirt-on cleanser (like Pledge Floors or Murphy's Oil soap), you could use that in addition to the plain water. I know part of the hype is "no cleaners needed," and while this is true, you might want to try something in addition if you like a shiny finish. Even squirting on a cleanser this is still much easier than traditional mopping. It also navigated corners and baseboards extremely well with the swivel-head.
I will never traditional-mop again. This is beyond easy, faster, and so much less labor-intensive. Not to mention easier than dragging buckets, cleaner, and a mop up and down the stairs to do multiple spots.

I bought this product last Christmas, I've had it almost a year now. Overall it's a good product. The only complaint would be that the cord is too short, I have to unplug it 3 times to get my floors done. When you order, you may want to order extra pads. I was always needing mine, and they hadn't been washed yet. I am just now getting ready to order new pads, they lasted almost a year. The product is sturdy and well built.

SharperTek Steam Cleaning Floor Mop w/ Pads Review

SharperTek Steam Cleaning Floor Mop w/ Pads
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I had researched several different steam mops and maybe they are all like this one and I am just thinking they would do something different than what they do.
But, I personally am disappointed with the idea of a 'steam mop'.
The steam mop left the floors VERY wet. I had thought that it would produce very hot steam that would almost be dry when mopping. This would then allow for the sanitizing and sparkling clean that I thought I would have.
Instead, the mop left the floors SO wet my feet were wet walking on it. It took a long time to dry and I didn't feel the floors were any cleaner. I used it on my sealed wood floor and it was soaking wet and left streaks.
I guess if you are mopping with a regular mop already and having to squeeze it out and use a bucket, this would be great. But if you are wanting something that won't leave your floors as wet as a regular mop, then this is not it.
The cord is short so plan to unplug and move to another outlet. Also, you have to REALLY pay attention as you are mopping and not leave it on and keep it in one spot for even 15 seconds. If the phone rings or a child needs you, turn it off as otherwise it will leave a stain on your floor.
The water does get really hot and it is nice to have the cloths that are washable although the little cord that tightens the cloth kept falling below the mop.
I did like that it is distributed in the US by a local company. When it arrives, you do need to screw in the handle as well as the bottom part but it comes with clear directions and the screws.
I am going back to my dry mop with washable cloth pads and a spray I use on the floor.

Haan FS-20+ Plus Cloths Review

Haan FS-20+ Plus Cloths
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I purchased the Haan 20 Steam Mop about two weeks ago. I have used it countless times already!! The first time I used it I thought it wasn't doing anything...until I did the paper towel test. I scrubbed the area I just went over with the steam mop and the paper towel was WHITE!! I then scrubbed an adjacent area that I did not steam and the paper towel turned gray. We have a very busy household with a dog and a two year old. I cleaned all of our sealed hardwood floors and ceramic tile and now when my 2 year old runs around in her white socks they STAY WHITE!! It is truly amazing. I feel like an infomercial but I really could not be happier with this purchase. My husband got black shoe polish all over our light hardwood floors. Soap and water would not budge it. I pulled out the steam mop just to try it out...shoe polish came right up with one run over it with the steam mop. WOW!! Another plus is that as long as you change the pads regularly the floors are completely dry once you pass over an area. So you don't have to worry about family and pets tracking their dirty shoes and paws through your freshly mopped floors.
Now the cons (though not that bad to me):
1. You are tethered to an outlet. Not too much a problem as we have many outlets all over the house. If you are like me you were changing the water in the mop bucket frequently when using a regular mop...so moving a cord around is much preferred in my book.
2. You have to fill the mop with 8oz of water every 20 minutes or so. A little red light comes on to tell you to fill it up. I have to add water about 4 times to do all the high traffic areas in my home.
3. The microfiber pads need to be changed regularly. Once the pad is saturated it starts to leave wetness that lingers on the floor. If I use two microfibers pads per 8oz. fill-up it seems to be the perfect balance. I have 6 microfiber pads and that is perfect for my 1800 sq ft house.
4. Using the steam mop is a little slower than regular mopping. You don't just rush the mop over the floor. You have to move a little slower so that it has time to steam up the mess and then grab it in the microfiber pad. This adds a little extra time but totally worth it since there are no chemicals and the floor is completely sanitized. I sure wish I had this product when my daughter was crawling. It would have saved time and my back from scrubbing the floors by hand.
Oh, I have the carpet attachment. This is great for sanitizing the carpet, bedding and upholstery. We are an allergic household so it seems to work well for this. You do not use the microfiber pads when using this attachment so I am not sure that it would remove stains. I have not tried it for that yet...but I will when I have the chance.

Euro-Pro Shark S3501 Deluxe Steam Pocket Mop Hard Surface Cleaner With 2 BONUS Microfiber Pads Review

Euro-Pro Shark S3501 Deluxe Steam Pocket Mop Hard Surface Cleaner With 2 BONUS Microfiber Pads
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Five months ago, I hesitantly purchased (directly from Amazon) the Euro-Pro Shark Steam Pocket Mop version with 2 heads and 4 microfiber pocket pads ... but I am SO glad I did. I LOVE this steam mop. I have TILE and WOOD floors throughout my house and they have been nearly impossible to keep clean (as evidenced by my kids' no-so-white sock bottoms). Anyway, I had been researching all of the various steam mops trying to find that "perfect" mop that would work miracles. I thought I had decided on one, but then (while flipping channels) saw the infomercial for this mop. It appeared to be EXACTLY what I was looking for. As with most infomercials, I was VERY skeptical that the product would REALLY do what it claimed to do. Luckily, I took the leap of faith, and purchased one from Amazon.com. I could not be happier with this mop. It REALLY does STEAM (alot) and get all of the gross built up dirt and grime off the floors.
I HATE cleaning floors! I'm more of a carpet person, so for me to say I love this product is absolutely amazing. I had a Hoover FloorMate (which I purchased 7 years ago), but it was ALOT of effort to clean up AFTER ... and it only had the brush scrubbers (so it didn't really WIPE the floors clean) AND it required the special Hoover cleaner (which I ruined mine by using Pine Sol ... which it specifically says not to use). Then I moved to the cheaper (although, not really after you buy all of the disposable pads and cleaner) Swiffer Wet Jet. It was ok for the quick clean-ups, IF my floor was already pretty much clean to begin with. But the Swiffer Wet Jet never CLEANED my floors. It was EXTREMELY frustrating to spend time and money cleaning and then STILL see the dirty sock bottoms (which meant the floors weren't really clean).
PLEASE NOTE: There are TWO (2) versions of the NEWER MODEL steam mop ... the PURPLE version has 2 heads (rectangle and triangle) with 5 PADS (2 rectangle, 2 triangle, 1 purple duster) and the SILVER/metallic version has 3 heads (XL rectangle, rectangle and triange) and 4 PADS (1 XL rectangle, 1 rectangle, 1 triangle, 1 purple duster). Both have the carpet glider. The XL kit, as well as extra PADS can all be purchased separately. I bought mine at Newegg.
The things I like about the Euro Pro Shark Steam Pocket Mop are ...
1. It has a LONG 30ft. cord so you are not constantly plugging and unplugging,
2. It has sturdy/thick microfiber machine washable/reusable TWO-SIDED pads (all of the stains don't come out, but they have held up VERY well to repeated washings),
3. It has a LARGE water tank, so you are not constantly re-filling the tank,
4. It has a SWIVEL head (3 different HEAD sizes/shapes) that FLIPS for two-sided cleaning,
5. It really STEAMS while cleaning and gets off the built on dirt,
6. It cleans WITHOUT any chemicals ... only tap water (I prefer using hot water),
7. It HEATS up quickly (under a minute ... although I usually let it heat for 5 minutes).
Things you should know ...
1. As with mopping, you need to vacuum or sweep BEFORE steam mopping (do this WHILE the mop is heating up).
2. Filling with hot water worked best for me.
3. PUMP/prime the mop about 10 times before you start mopping (this gets the STEAM really going).
4. Make sure you have AT LEAST 2 pads (4-sides of cleaning), especially if your floors are dirty.
5. Do NOT keep using the same pad side once it is dirty (so, check the bottom as you go) or your floors will not be cleaned and look streaky when they dry.
6. I don't *think* this mop actually gets hot enough to really sanitize (I'm not sure if any of them do), but I spray/squirt some vinegar on the floor as I go and mop over that and it seems to work.
7. The steam mop is made of hard plastic, so I'm not sure how well the handle itself is going to last over time with repeated pumpings, etc. I've noticed several reviewers commenting on a broken handle. I would say there is alot of truth in that ... since the manufacturer sells JUST the HANDLE for ~$30 as a "replacement part" on its website ... and I personally think that is an odd "replacement" part (so they must have ALOT of handles breaking). Still, I have not found anything else that does the job like this mop.
Overall, I am VERY HAPPY with this mop! Actually, don't mind (as much) cleaning the floors now ... since they do truly get clean!
UPDATE April 2011: My mop is still working fine with no issues (thank goodness). The pads are heavily stained (even Clorox won't get the stains out) and have started to wear through and need to be replaced. My mom also purchased one a few months after I did and her handle broke within a month of very LIGHT use. The manufacturer was useless in helping her and said that she could buy the replacement handle (no thank you) or PAY to have it shipped back to them to inspect and fix or replace (their option). Anyway, she just returned it where she purchased it and got all of her money back. I would say that this mop does appear to have QUALITY CONTROL ISSUES. If you get a good one, consider yourself LUCKY. If you get a bad one (which the chances are greater than 50/50), then hopefully you purchased from a store with an EXCELLENT and longer-lasting RETURN POLICY as the manufacturer will NOT help you. It also appears that some of these quality control issues could be dangerous (beyond a broken handle). I am still using mine and happy with the results, but am now a little more cautious.

Haan HD-50 Duo Steam Sweeper & Floor Sanitizer Review

Haan HD-50 Duo Steam Sweeper and Floor Sanitizer
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I'll admit I'm a person who dislikes housework with a passion--but I'm a stickler for a clean and sanitary environment. Since the kitchen and the bathrooms are the most heavily traveled and visited, I was especially drawn to the Haan Duo Steam Sweeper and Sanitizer, beacause it was able to tackle a few tasks at the same time. Originally when I had to mop the floor, I'd sweep the area, fill two buckets: one with hot water and Mr. Clean--and the other bucket with clear, cold rinse water. And then the process of trying to clean the floor would begin...
After the floor finally dried, there was always a slight disinfectant residue that felt tacky whenever I'd walk across what I thought was a clean floor.
When I opened my Haan-Duo, the first place I thought I'd try the machine was the prep area in my kitchen. Between the grease and food stains, footprints, scuff marks, and crumbs, I thought if something as simple as water/steam could clean and sanitize that
mess--then it was worth every penny.
The first pass in the prep area was absolutely amazing! Not only did the Haan-Duo pick up the things I had been able to see, but it went deeper into the floor to clean things I couldn't see. My flooring is rather old, but after one cleaning, the luster I thought was gone came right back to life. Grey tiles I thought were part of the color pattern on the floor were dazzlingly white. For the first time, in a long time, the floor looked fantastic!
I then completed the bathrooms. The grout in between the tiles was perfectly clean. I tried it on my hard wood floors--and the same consistent results made the floor look like new in minutes!
The Haan-Duo is light, compact, and it delivers every time I've used the product. My only critique of the system is that it is difficult to really get in and around the back end of the toilet area because of its width. If there were an attachment, perhaps shaped like a triangle, it would get to the hard to reach spaces without any trouble. If indeed, Haan makes a hand-held model with the varying heads, I'd purchase it in a heartbeat.
The velcro pads pick up every bit of floor residue, and then when I'm finished cleaning, I wash the pads out with gentle soap, and put them in the sun to dry.
The Haan-Duo us very eco-friendly. No more do I have to worry about allergic reactions from cleaning products. The surfaces are sanitized in a natural way--without chemicals.
It's really made my workload so much easier!

Shark Deluxe Steam Mop, S3202 Review

Shark Deluxe Steam Mop, S3202
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
We have allergies, so most of our floors are hard covered. I have tried the scooba, which works well but only does one room at a time, and requires a bit of set up. This product is a third of the price of scooba, and works amazingly well. I suggest vacuuming first, since you do not rinse the mop head and dont want to risk scratching your floor with sandy residue. Then simply fill the mop with water, wait 30 seconds and you're ready to go. I was impressed by the way the mop cleaned, evident by the dirt on the pad! We have one old original wood floor in our bedroom and was a bit leery of trying it on the wood, but seriously, when my husband got home, he asked me what I did to make the floor look so nice! It steamed away stains we were not able to get out with any other method. I love not having to use chemicals on the floors in order to clean them. This mop comes with 5 machine washable pads, so you will not need to buy replacements for a long time, although when you do, you will note that they are expensive! It also comes with a glider for carpets, so you can steam and refresh them. It is a bit awkward to use it, but does the job.

Equipped with a powerful 1550-watt heating system, this environmentally friendly upright steam cleaner heats up in about 30 seconds and offers a chemical-free way to clean and sanitize carpets and sealed hard-floor surfaces throughout the home. The unit works with regular tap water, and its 8-ounce water tank can be refilled at any time for nonstop cleaning--no need for sloshing buckets of water or effortful rinsing and wringing like with conventional mops. The forward pushing motion of the mop releases steam automatically, leaving floors clean and virtually dry with no chemical residues. Even more, it comes with an absorbent triple-action microfiber pad that not only removes tough dirt and grime, scuff marks, sticky messes, muddy footprints, and more from tile, linoleum, vinyl, and other floor surfaces, but it also can be machine-washed as needed for repeated use. Other highlights include a 12-inch cleaning path, a nonslip ergonomic grip to reduce hand and wrist stress, a long 25-foot power cord, and a lightweight design at just 3 pounds. Five microfiber cleaning pads come included, as well as a carpet glider for freshening up rugs and carpets. The steam mop measures 5-1/2 by 10 by 49 inches and carries a one-year limited warranty.

Oreck Steam-It Steam Mop Review

Oreck Steam-It Steam Mop
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Let me start by saying that I am a huge Oreck fan. I think that they make quality products that do what they say they do. However, I can't say that this product measures up. They are on the right track but have several details to work out yet. I already own a Shark steam mop but find the handle to be a little short (I am tall) and it doesn't hold enough water to do my whole kitchen area with one fill. I was quite excited to hear that Oreck had a steam mop. I went to the Oreck store and got a demo. I commented then that the 'pad' was loose and coming off while he mopped, and that the head of the mop was being uncooperative during the carpet refresh demo. He made excuses for all so I bought the steam mop. The mop holds about a gallon of water, and has a very tall handle and a long cord. All good things. The quality and construction are excellent. However, the first thing you notice is that it weighs more than your vaccuum. The pad is actually a piece of cotton duck fabric about a foot square with a strip of terry cloth like fabric down the center. Picture a baby diaper from 20 years ago. You lay that on the floor and use those yellow tabs in the picture to pinch the loose ends of the cloth under the yellow tab. I began to mop and noticed right away that the steam production is fast and strong, good, but the mop is very very hard to push. It is heavy and awkward to move and now I know why the salesman spent so much time showing me the shoulder movement I should use to push the mop back and fowards. The forward motion caused everything I picked up with the mop to be pushed into a line of bits and fuzz on the floor so I tried to turn the mop and capture the fuzzy stuff. Immediately the pad came unclipped. I repositioned the pad and tried again. Again the pad came off. I tried to mop around the bathroom toilet, pulling it longways along the side of the toilet, the pad came off. Each time I pulled the mop towards myself, the head of the mop leaves the floor, tilting on its back edge and drags back to me. When I push forward, it flattens out again. The mop handle stores all the water and electronics and weighs close to 10 lbs, the mop head on the other hand is a lightweight hollow piece of plastic. The design of the head is bad because it can't compete with the weight of that handle and because it is like a box, not a flat pad holder. I could not mop under the water shut off valves behind the toilet because the head is too tall and boxxy, nor under the kitchen cupboard kickspace nor under the door backstops along the molding, all because of the height of the head. Each of these places had to be done separately without the steam mop. Lots of rework that day and lots of frustration. It has a snap on piece for the head that lets it glide on carpet so I tried that as well. Like what I saw in the store demo, each stroke out was great, each stroke back found the head flipping up on its back and bouncing back or dragging back towards me. I really can't imagine that the tester of this product actually tried mopping or steaming with it before it was release to market. And yes, I tried bending down lower, changing my angle, going faster, slower, none of it helped. It has 2 rocker switches on the handle covered by a rubbery plastic box. One controls power, the other steam. After leaving the mop for several hours, I came back to find that the power\preheat switch light was out, but that the mop was hot. The switch wasnt fully off, just looked like it. Because of the rubbery box around the switches, it is hard to tell if a switch is completely clicked in one direction or the other and obviously the led on the switch isn't so sure either. Thats a fire hazard in my book. I have boxed this Oreck back up, first thing I have ever returned to Oreck, but it is going back and when they come out with a new improved model, I will give that a try. For now, I really don't think this design is ready for public consumption, too many engineering issues to work out.
The good:
Great construction, holds nearly a gallon of water, produces really good steam really fast, long cord.
The bad:
The water weighs far to much, handle pushes down so hard it makes the head flip up on every backstroke
The power switches are difficult
It is too heavy and awkward to be used as a window washer or steam cleaner as shown in the commercials. Imagine hoisting your heavy full size vacuum up to your windows or stove to clean with it.
The pad is useless because nothing sticks to it, it just collects anything it finds and leaves it at the end of your stroke, it needs to be more like the shark pad, thick, soft and absorbant.
The design of the yellow pad pinchers is rediculous, they don't keep the pad in place if you turn the mop head even a little - the pad comes off immediately. They are similar to a chip clip and are trying to hold a wet cotton cloth under pressure while moving. Not happening.
The head to too tall, can't mop under anything normal, and it is too light to stay positioned on the floor when fighting with the weight of the handle.
