Haan FS20 Plus Steam Cleaning Floor Sanitizer with Deluxe Sanitizing Tray Review

Haan FS20 Plus Steam Cleaning Floor Sanitizer with Deluxe Sanitizing Tray

I did extensive research on the steam floor cleaners. I had seen the Haan info-mercial a long time ago and also saw the Shark one as well. My research was well worth it. The Haan has definately proven itself. I have hardwood floors on the entire first level of my home and they came out looking great. My ceramic and travertine in my upstairs bathrooms looks great also. I even tried the carpet attachment on the landing and in one of the bedrooms and I can really tell a difference. You do not need to fill too often and the area of steam is in way excess of the other steam cleaners on the market. It is light and easy to use. I also did my homework on price and Amazon even beat out QVC.

Haan's FS20 steam cleaning floor sanitizer enables you to easily clean and sanitize any sealed hard surface floor without using chemicals--providing an ecologically green and naturally healthy way to keep your home clean. The FS20 emits 212-degree F steam to kill 99 percent of germs, bacteria and dust mites and leave your floors instantly dry. Weighing less than 4 pounds with a full tank of water, the FS20 features 15 powerful, evenly-spaced steam jets for maximum cleaning potential and provides up to 20 minutes of steam cleaning time.
The FS20 Plus is quick to start up and is ready to use in less than 3 minutes. Engineered to reduce friction and dry floors instantly, the patented super-absorbent, multilayer Ultra-Microfiber cleaning pads lock in dirt and leave floors dry to the touch--and they're machine washable and reusable. The ultra-microfiber material used by Haan is 5-10 times thinner than common microfiber, providing for a significantly higher thread count in the same surface area. The thinner and higher the thread count, the greater the absorption--and the less time you'll spend cleaning.
The Ready For Use Indicator on top of the large easy-grip cap turns orange when the unit is ready to use, and indicator lights on the rear let you know when to refill the unit. Other features include a locking, adjustable telescopic handle made of heavy gauge aluminum, power cord management system, and convenient storage hook for hanging. Ordered this steam cleaner shortly after I got my 12 week old puppy who is in the process of being pottytrained. I have used it on my carpet to get puppy stains.odors out and they disappeared immediately! Now I find myself cleaning everything in sight and I do not know how I ever lived without this cleaner. My house smells fresh without the use of chemicals and it has taken in some instances 21 years worth of grime off in a matter of seconds!! Try it and see for yourself.

Haan SV-60 Hard-Floor Steam Vacuum Cleaner Review

Haan SV-60 Hard-Floor Steam Vacuum Cleaner
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The Haan SV 60 is a Great Machine! My problem is with Amazon - The specifications clearly state that there is only ONE microfiber pad included and that the "optional carpet tray can be purchased separately." ONE microfiber pad leaves the 200.00 steam vac USELESS!!!! I have purchased pads, but they don't fit at all.... I just grin and bear it because I love the steamer..... As for carpets, I can't use my SV 60 on my carpets because NO ONE, ANY WHERE, can help me find a carpet tray....... I should have researched and purchased one from another vendor that includes FOUR microfiber pads AND the carpet tray with agitator brush...... The 50.00 extra that I would have paid would have been MONEY WELL SPENT ...... you cannot put a price on the time and effort I have spent trying to PAY for PADS that FIT and the Carpet Tray...... Buyer Beware!!!! Somehow, be CERTAIN of the contents of the box.....

Hoover dual V solution tank 90001295 / 42272104 Review

Hoover dual V solution tank 90001295 / 42272104
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This Hoover tank is one of our most popular parts we sell on line. The demand for these are very high. These were made orignially VERY Cheaply, and most customers would break it by just trying to re-attach the tank after refilling. The bottom of the tank then would begin leaking. I have several customers who were on tanks #4 and 5. The actuall machine really does a nice job when everything is working correctly, that's why most people go ahead and spend the $40-$50 for a new tank.
Hoover sold their company in March to TTI Floorcare. TTI is the parent company of Dirt Devil, and Royal Vacuums. They purchased the Hoover name from Maytag. We have mixed feelings about this takeover, as some parts TTI has stopped making all together. The Hoover V2 Clean solution tank was in too high of a demand however to stop making. They have since redesigned the tank and made it 30% more durable. The new tank has a lot better quality plastic. I have not seen ANY problems on the new design.
Hopefully they have fixed the problem for good. Any person purchasing this part should call ahead and make sure it's the new design, or else you'll be replacing the old style tank at least once a year every year.

Rug Doctor Mighty Pro Plus Review

Rug Doctor Mighty Pro Plus
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I've been renting rug doctors from Safeway for years so I finally decided it was time to buy one. They are amazing. They will transform your carpet from a depressing situation to like-new again. I don't usually use the anti-foam solution. I just use a tiny splash of the cleaning solution in the water to keep the foam to a minimum. It usually takes multiple passes on high-traffic areas, but it's worth it. Here's a tip: you can use a small squirt dishwasher soap as an anti-foam - it's the same thing chemically.

Shark V1950 Cordless VX3 Carpet & Floor Sweeper Review

Shark V1950 Cordless VX3 Carpet and Floor Sweeper
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The people at Shark and Euro-Pro cleaning companies have always known how to make so many great products with vacuums, and carpet sweepers. Nevertheless, when it comes down to it, it really is on how well the vacuum really lasts. Shark's previous cordless sweepers have all done a great job at picking up after everyday messes, but they have been some glitches. I was honestly very skeptical with the latest model when I saw it on television, and I liked it a lot, but as I started to use it, I was hoping for just a bit more. Here is my verdict.
The Shark VX3 Cordless Sweeper is the latest in Euro-Pro's well-recieved carpet sweeper line. This one does a good job at picking up after pet hair and fuzz, and is very simple to setup. You can pick up actually a lot of pet hair, fuzz, or anything off your floors and carpets. It is easy to charge up, and does really works well. The no-mess dust cup is very simple to clean up, and easily removes all that was picked up from the floors. The vacuum is also very easy to carry around, and take from room to room, without feeling the drag of carrying around your vacuum and getting a backache.
That is what I think, even though there really are a few problems that still make could've been a bit easier to pick up after. The first problem deals with the battery. ou have to really keep the sweeper plugged in to your outelt for at least a day, inorder to fully charge a the battery. The VX3's battery also could've had a bit stronger battery life than just an hour long. The second problem deals with the backsaver feature. While the VX3 does pick up well, and is easy to operate, I had a tricky time manuvering the VX3 with the backsaver handle. While the concept is ingenius at folding the handle to make it easier at picking up under the beds and those hard-to-reach areas, it is honestly a little bit harder to control and steer the sweeper.
Still, despite a few problems with the Shark VX3 Cordless Sweeper, I still think it is a very good buy for anyone who wants a easier way to clean up after all those messes on the floor. It just does a great job at really cleaning up your floors and is great for small homes and apartments, or any home that works at a great pace. While you can get this though the As Seen On TV ads, you also can find this at your nearest Macy's for around $70, instead of getting both the VX3 and VX1 models like the infomercial says in its offer for $130. So, suck those problems on the floor away, and try this sweeper out.

Euro-Pro Shark S3501N Deluxe Steam Pocket Mop Review

Euro-Pro Shark S3501N Deluxe Steam Pocket Mop
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
It started simple enough. A friend said, "You HAVE to get a Shark steamer mop thing. It's awesome."
But if you're a type-A like me, that's where the simplicity ends.
I researched the (older model) Shark and because of the not so great reviews, I ended up ordering the Eureka ENVIRO STEAMER. I chose the Eureka primarily because of a comparison review by a user. Turns out, alot of the qualities written in the review, like water tank size and cord length, didn't apply anymore.
So then, I ordered the Haan FS20-Plus 800-Watt Steam Cleaning Floor Sanitizer with Deluxe Sanitizing Tray based on the same reviewer's awesome comparison. But again, the info didn't match up to what I ordered/got.
Today, I finally broke down and just went to a brick and morter Bedbathandbeyond. The guy was very helpful and showed me the various Sharks and told me this new model (the most expensive at $119) had a bigger tank than previous.
So, here I am with 3 different steamer mops. Since I buy most of my stuff based on reviews, I thought I would take the time to do a very non-scientific comparison.
*Euro-Pro Shark S3501 Deluxe Steam Pocket Mop ($106 with my 20%coup plus tax at BBB)
*Haan FS20-Plus 800-Watt Steam Cleaning Floor Sanitizer with Deluxe Sanitizing Tray ($90 via Amazon)
*Eureka ENVIRO STEAMER ($69 via Amazon)
OUT OF THE BOX:
All three were very easy to put together. Handle either snapped/or screwed into base.
HANDLE:
All are plastic and for the most part, feel a bit flimsy. None really stood out above the others.
CORD:
Shark has 30' (the longest)
Haan and Eureka were same... about 18'.
WATER TANK: ((my top priority, behind obviously cleaning))
Shark -- approx 1 3/4 cups* (fill cup provided is not marked)
Eureka -- 1 1/4 cups* (fill cup provided is not marked but manual says capacity total 12 oz)
Haan -- 1 cup* (fill cup provided is marked)
*cup is based on the cup that came with Haan, the only one clearly marked. So I just filled the others and then dumped into the Haan cup. Hence, minor discrepancy. If you convert 12 oz into cups, it's 1 1/2 cups... but for some reason when I filled the Eureka container and dumped it into the Haan cup, it only filled it 1 1/4 ways. Go figure.
CLEANING PAD:
Shark's cleaning cloth covers the head but the design allows you to flip it so you can use both sides with ease. The whole head actually flips on the mop so it's not like you're taking the cloth off and then putting it back on. (2 rectangular cloths included, along with 2 triangular cloths, for the triangular head -- I guess for corners or tight spaces. But I have not used or tried out. Also, 1 fluffy looking thing that's for dusting...again, have not tried this out either.)
**edited to add 1/8/2010** I've used the purple duster on wood floors and love it! Cleans great.
Eureka -- waffle type of towel, held in place by clamps on the base. After 1 wash, the trim started coming off and it already had a very worn/old look to it. Not sure how long it would have held up. (2 included)
Haan -- a thick, microfiber trapazoid that just sort of velcros onto the bottom. Very sturdy. (2 included)
OVERALL CLEANING (see photo):
Obviously, not very scientific but I swiped a wet paper towel on a portion of my tile that I was planning to clean.
I split the area into thirds so each steam mop was used in one section (I have large stone tile with deep grout lines (see photo).
Then I went over that cleaned section with another wet paper towel to see how much dirt could be picked up.
NONE: (first paper towel on left) Clearly, the dirtiest.
Haan: cleaned the best (again, not scientific just how much was picked up on a paper towel after using the steam mop)
Eureka Enviro: cleaned the worst (but obviously, still great, compared to nothing)
Shark: in the middle.
CONCLUSION:
I'm keeping the Shark because of several factors:
*big water chamber (thus longer steam time)
*long cord (convenience of not using extension cord or unplugging and re-plugging)
*dual head cleaning cover (pretty handy)
*complete swivel head... but because of this feature, the drawback is that you have to lean the handle up against a counter because it won't stand on its own, like the Haan or Eureka.
I won't go into detail about the wetness factor because frankly, all three left the surface wet but all three dried pretty quickly (much more quickly than when I use a traditional sponge mop/pinesol). This was really not an issue for me.
OVERALL, seriously, I would be thrilled with any one of these... because they do cut down tile floor cleaning time tremendously-- and without using chemicals. Any one of them clearly beats the old mop and bucket method.
I guess it comes down to how you prioritize the features. For me, after this exhaustive research -- I'm sticking with the Shark! Good luck on yours... and my you NOT find yourself in a similar dilemma where you're obsessing over minor details like I did.
EXTRA FYI:
"Pocket" vs "deluxe" -- what's the difference between the gold and purple set?
Both Pocket (gold) and Deluxe(purple) are priced the same but the Pocket comes with ONE set of cleaning cloths. But you do get a third head -- that's an XL rectagular head. The purple set comes with two sets of cleaning cloths. I think for the money, the purple set is the way to go.
Hope that helps!
