Royal Procision 7910 Carpet Extractor Review

Royal Procision 7910 Carpet Extractor
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The Royal 7910 is an upright extractor that does a great job of cleaning carpets and rugs. The machine has nice features including the rinse cycle, which allows you just to rinse carpets, with no soap or shampoo. The machine is unique to most other household extractors because the brushes on the machine don't retract into the brush housing when placing them on the floor. Both Hoover, Bissell, and Eureka's brushes all retract into the housing of the machines. The Royal brushes are more like a vacuum cleaner, except you have two rows of brushes, one spinning clockwise, the other spinning counter-clockwise. This allows you to clean both side of the carpet fiber. The other feature that sets this machine apart from it's competition is the warranty, and ease of cleaning the machine by the consumer. Most home carpet extractors are very difficult to take apart for cleaning and maintenance. The Royal 7910 is the exception. No tools are needed to take the front housing off to clean out all the pet hair. The manufacters warranty on the Royal 7910 is 3 years parts and labor. I have not seen any major issues with this unit, and with a warranty of 3 years, feel confident in this machine for many years to come.

Bio Kleen Bac Out with Foaming Sprayer Review

Bio Kleen Bac Out with Foaming Sprayer

Bac-Out is amazing! We were set on doing cloth diapers for our newborn, but were slightly afraid of the 'clean-up'. I also use the rice paper with my diapers. Changing is as simple as open the dipe, pull out the rice paper, spritz some Bac-Out on the soiled area and toss in the wetbag. This stuff smells fresh and clean - it takes the odor and stains out in a snap. I only wish it came in a larger refill jug.

I received the Euroflex Monster EZ1 steam Mop and handheld household steam cleaner for a Christmas gift this year (I have had this on my gift list for over a year) and I love them both. Ease of use rates high with both of these products and the level of clean has reached a whole new height in my home. Both my kids love to take turns using these products. My twelve year old has been going from room to room cleaning baseboards and getting everything out of every nook and cranny (awesome bonus, even though he is avoiding his homework)! We have an "allergy house" so I will be using the Steam mop this week to kill the dust mites in our mattresses. I purposely chose this particular steam mop over other brands because of the temperature the water is heated to. Would highly recommend this purchase!

Carpet Fresh No Vacuum Foam Carpet Refresher, Super Pet, Neutralizes Pet Odors, 10.5 oz (297g) Review

We used to buy this freshener at the grocery store but for some reason they stopped selling it there. When I found it online I immediately ordered a case of them. The foam melts into the carpet very quickly and doesn't leave any residue. But the scent is what we fell in love with. Having three dogs the house doesn't always smell that fresh. This product in the Super Pet scent truly delivers what is promised...a clean, great smelling almost odor-free home. When my twelve cans are gone I will definitely by a dozen more. I am so glad I found a way to order this through Amazon.

Hoover F5810 SteamVac Carpet Cleaner Review

Hoover F5810 SteamVac Carpet Cleaner
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I was impressed with the way it doesn't oversaturate the carpet (unless you just keep going over the area and pressing the squirt trigger a lot.) The suction is very good and the machine is easy to operate. The water is only as hot as you get out of your faucet however, but this was not a concern for me.
I almost bought a Bissell, similar price, but discovered the Bissell had an odd retriever container--it actually sits inside the clean water container, so this doesn't give much room for the dirty water. I didn't actually try out the Bissell, so I can't really criticize it.
I used the Hoover for a very dirty utility room carpet and the only thing I will do different next time is use a Hoover stain remover for some of the ground in dirt stains.
All in all, I found this machine to be MUCH better than ones I had rented from a local hardware store in past years (for a different house). The rental machines are extremely heavy, hard to get in and out of my car and leave the carpets soaking wet. This Hoover machine isjust what I hoped for.
One thing to be aware of, after you take the machine out of the package, check to see if the cap on the clean water container is already loosened. I was following directions to a "tee" and trying like everything to turn the knob to the left to unscrew it and then discovered it was already loose and ready to be lifted out.
I ordered this machine from Amazon also another item previously, and was very happy with Amazon's fast delivery time on both items.

Bissell Big Green Complete Home-Cleaning System, 7700 Review

Bissell Big Green Complete Home-Cleaning System, 7700
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I was really excited about this because of the multi-function use. At the same time, I was skeptical. Our little dog likes to pee in small places on the carpet, so we needed good carpet cleaner that would deep clean these areas.
The carpet cleaner works very well. Both the large cleaner extension and the handheld spray and suction the water, which most others do not do. It was a decision between this and the Hoover Agility. The Agility does not seem to have a sprayer on the extension hose.
When it comes to the vacuum, it's not that great. The suction is only good enough for area rugs. The carpet extension has a air powered brush that stops working on normal carpet and it only cleans the top surface debris.
So, if you want something for hardwood and deep carpet cleaning this is great. Just don't try to replace a regular vacuum cleaning with this.

For a thoroughly clean home without all the space-consuming equipment, this thoughtfully designed cleaner functions as three units in one. It vacuums carpets, floors, and hard-to-reach areas; deep cleans carpets and upholstery; and washes sealed hard-floor surfaces. Not bad for a unit that takes up just over 2 square feet of floor space. The versatile cleaner provides easy-to-use push-button controls, bagless technology, and a 1-2/7-gallon tank capacity. When in deep-cleaning mode, its built-in heater quickly heats hot tap water up to 25 degrees hotter for enhanced results. On-board vacuum tools include a multi-surface floor tool, an air-powered floor TurboBrush, a 5-inch brush, a crevice tool, and a dust brush, as well as a carpet deep-cleaning tool, a drain cleaner, a 4-inch upholstery tool, and a hard-floor tool. The hard-floor tool uses a washable micro-fiber pad that helps lift and remove dirt from tile, vinyl, laminates, and sealed hardwood surfaces.
Even more, the home-cleaning system features three-stage filtration. Its water filtration captures large debris and dust, the washable foam filter captures fine particles, and the HEPA media filter cleans and filters the air. Other highlights include a quick-release cord wrap, a quick-release hose door, an 8-foot upholstery hose, and an 18-foot power cord, along with Microban antimicrobial protection, which fights the growth of odor causing bacteria, mold, and mildew in the machine, keeping it cleaner and fresher between uses. Additional items include a 16-ounce bottle of Fiber Cleansing Formula, an 8-ounce bottle of Hard Floor Solutions, a mesh bag, and two hard-floor micro-fiber pads. The home-cleaning system measures 13 by 24 by 54-1/2 inches and carries a one-year limited warranty.

Haan MS-30 Multi-Purpose Steam Cleaner Review

Haan MS-30 Multi-Purpose Steam Cleaner
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have had my eye on the Ladybug steamer for months now, drooling over all it could do but it was far out of my price range. I own the Envirosteamer steam floor mop and love it, but I wanted something to get into tight spaces like around the toilet, in the tub, the oven, etc. With some Santa money I got more serious about purchasing a canister steamer in addition to my floor steamer and began some comparative testing and studying. Fortunately, I live in a neighborhood that is all "green built certified" which means, in order to have a green rating, all homes were built with no carpet and lots of people hate chemicals which means it's a neighborhood full of steam mops which makes comparing the models quite easy. That's a good thing because it just saved me over a thousand bucks because I wound up no longer wanting the Ladybug. Here's how they rate...you decide which is best for you:
These are the canister mops I compared:
Vapamore MR-100
Ladybug XL-2300
Haan Canister
Reliable Enviromate
V=Vapamore
L=Ladybug
H=Haan
R=Reliable
NUMBER OF STEAM JETS SPITTING OUT HOT STEAM:
V-10
L-8
H-12
R-5
WATER PRESSURE CONTEST; (1st place being shoots steam the hardest)
V- 2nd PLACE
L-1ST PLACE:
H- 3rd PLACE:
R- 4th PLACE:
CORD LENGTH: (so you don't have to stop, unplug, water cools some, replug in)
V-18 feet
L-15 ft
H-18 feet
R-8 feet
recap: An 8' cord is INSANE. I couldn't even get across my kitchen counter or walk around my bed to steam all of the mattress without using an extension cord!
STEAM TEMPERATURE
V-256 degrees
L-297 degrees
H-212 degrees
R-218 degrees
Note: These temperatures are based upon using the small hose attachments. In every case that we used the long hose attachment included to turn these into a floor mop, the steam had to travel down the long hose so it cooled and wound up only being about 115 degrees by the time it reached the floor. Which results in very poor cleaning. Because of this, if you are wanting this mostly for floor steaming, I would suggest going with a steamer that shoots out hot steam directly onto the floor from its tank rather than through a long hose before reaching the floor as a canister mop does.
TIME TO HEAT UP:
V-10 min
L-8 min
H-3 min
R-5 min
WATER TANK:
V-1.6 liters
L-1.8+1.5 quarts
H-20 oz
R 2 liters
CLEANING:
For a controlled cleaning test, I mixed Dr. Pepper with sugar and spread it evenly across a 4' length of my stained concrete floor and kept the pets away until it dried completely in a gunky mess. I then tested each mop against it in lengthwise strips, moving them at the same pace after a full heat up, as well as testing each on its own strip of bathroom tile & grout. Here's who performed the best:
Tie: Ladybug and Vapamore. These, due to the really hot temps, loosened the gunk on impact and made it VERY easy to clean my floor. Their hot temps and heavier steam also cleaned tile the best but Vapamore actually did a BETTER job on uneven surfaces like tile with grout..but don't expect shiny white grout because it wasn't exactly returned to looking brand new either.
2nd place:Haan...but it wasn't nearly as good as the above two.
Last place: Reliable. Although the steam temp is hotter than the Haan, it doesn't shoot out as strong and only had 5 steam jets so this diminished its effectiveness Didn't come close to the V or L.
All were at temps to kill bacteria and sanitize without using chemicals such as counters and mattresses, unless you tried to turn it into a floor mop which I don't suggest because the steam was too cool to clean as well as a real floor steam mop made for that purpose..Other notes: The ladybug was the most awkward to carry. It just wasn't made for carrying up stairs, etc. Conclusion: Considering the Ladybug is over a thousand dollars more than any of the other mops, this was a real eye opener! I tested these with my friends and we all agreed, hands down, that the Vapamore was the best buy. And I love it! It cleaned the best BUT the Ladybug lasted much longer as far as cleaning time. However, Vapamore cleaned for 50 minutes prior to needing a refill which, for me, is all I need. That said, if you want to use this commercially and don't want to have to take time to refill, the Ladybug may be worth the steep price for you. Considering they have the same 3 year warranty though, I'd rather buy 4 Vapamores for the price of one Ladybug and have one in every room. I kid. The Reliable seemed to lack things that were just silly...like having a cord longer than my blow dryer and only having 5 steam jets.

With a variety of easy-to-attach accessories, the steamer can handle almost any household cleaning task, including floors, sinks, walls, countertops, ceilings, and windows. Ewbank 280 Carpet Shampooer Review

Ewbank 280 Carpet Shampooer

This is positively THE WORST home cleaning product purchase I have ever made in my entire life! DO NOT BUY THIS unless you are planning to throw away your carpet, especially if it's light-colored. I thought some new technology had been invented that allowed soap to be dried on and then vacuumed up. But a few days after using it, there were even bigger & nastier stains than before. HORRIBLE PRODUCT! Between all the water, time, and effort expended to get my carpet clean in the spots where I used it, this thing is STILL costing me a fortune. Months later and after 2 self-cleanings, I am still rinsing soap from my carpet.

Shark VX3 Cordless Floor-and-Carpet Cleaner, V1950 Review

Shark VX3 Cordless Floor-and-Carpet Cleaner, V1950
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Do NOT buy this if you think it will replace your vacuum. I have a 2 year old and a VERY good vacuum on hand that I use once a week (though I probably should vacuum twice a week). For all the messes that occur in between (probably 2-3x a day), I use the Shark to make my life easier.
I'm currently a stay at home mom with a toddler and she leaves crumbs EVERYWHERE. We live in a small apartment, so the dining room is a spit's throw from the living room and it's almost unavoidable to have toddlers (my kid, my kid's friends, my friends' kids...) carrying their muffins, snacks, crackers, pretzels around and about the living area. I got the Shark more because my daughter was terrified of loud sounds and my regular vacuum cleaner, but have found that the nice bonus is that it's so much easier to lug this one out 2-3 times a day to pick up crumbs right after snack time (and hence avoid having it ground into the rugs) than to pull out my heavy Bissell.
Pros: It's lightweight, very quiet, convenient, and effective for picking up visible crumbs if used correctly.
Cons: It doesn't do heavy-duty or deep cleaning; the price-tag can be steep; Shark sweepers are known to break down after a few months to a year.
My mom has an older version of the Shark sweeper, which is much more quiet than this one. She's a waitress and uses it to tidy up the floor under the tables in between customers. Obviously, she's subjecting it to pretty heavy use, and she's now on her third one. Her recommendations on making it last a long as possible: clean the sweeper thoroughly after a few uses (that includes pulling out accumulated hair in the brushes and washing the collection bin) and charge the battery according to directions (do not allow to sit for longer than 19 hours at a time charging, you will reduce battery life).
The Shark Vx3 is a little louder than hers. But I like the fact that it has two speed settings (supposedly for floor and carpet). The handle bends so that you can push it under furniture, which is a little helpful, but kinda awkward and (knowing that the Shark sweeper handles are notorious for breaking off) I prefer to not use it at all. The Shark Vx3 also has a little rotator brush on the side, which is supposed to pick up crumbs as you push it against the side of a wall, but I wish that they had thought to put a rotator brush on both sides. They claim also that you can push a button and dump out the collection cup without ever having to touch the dirt. This is true in theory, but in practice, the lid often catches or there is dirt stuck in the bin that you have to shake it out--so it's almost unavoidable to touch the bin or dirt. No big deal--just wash your hands afterwards.
The bottom line: don't expect to replace your vacuum. And here's the KEY to use the sweeper most effectively -- push it SLOWLY and repeatedly over the pile of crumbs that you intend to pick up. I found that if you tried to push the sweeper back and forth quickly like a regular vacuum, it didn't pick up anything, just pushed the dirt around.
If you found this review helpful, please let me know!

Bissell ProHeat 2X Healthy Home Upright Deep Cleaner, 66Q4 Review

Bissell ProHeat 2X Healthy Home Upright Deep Cleaner, 66Q4
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
My carpet is old and due for replacement. While this Bissell carpet cleaner couldn't remove years of wear, it did remove a surprising volume of dirt. At first, I didn't think it was really doing all that much. But once I emptied out the tank, my God, what a filthy carpet I was walking on! The used water was a very dark gray bordering on black. Yuck!
There's a handy little spinning wheel icon on the base of the unit (aka the flow gauge) that tells you if everything's going according to plan, or if you need to change the water, add cleaning fluid or some other issue. If it's spinning, you're in good shape. When it stops, you need to fill or empty the tank(s).
The cleaner has 4 different "custom clean" settings. I mostly used the "normal clean" setting and then switched to "heavy traffic" for the dirtiest regions. The "Dry Aire" feature sends hot air to your carpet to aid in drying. As I write this, my living room is somewhat humid and the floor is damp. I don't think it will take long to dry though.
A small bottle of Bissell cleaning solution is included. Do yourself a favor and buy a larger bottle before this item arrives. You'll go through it pretty quickly, so probably best to buy a decent sized refill in advance of delivery. Otherwise, you are flat-out going to run out of cleaning fluid before the job is done.
So what's not to like? Well, it's somewhat heavy and bulky. For someone small and weaker, it might be a bit hard to move around. Obviously, it rolls on the carpet fine, so that's not an issue. But it's a big unit and you probably need at least a little bit of muscle (but not too much) to use it properly. The tank filled with water might be a bit heavy for some as well. You carry it like a bucket, but toting around a bucket full of water and bending down to insert and remove the tank isn't a simple thing for someone without a moderate amount of strength.
Assembly was quite easy. You put the top half into the bottom half and secure it with 3 Phillips screws. Nothing too tricky there. The tool rack requires a touch more attention. The illustration was not as clear as I would have liked and it took a bit of head scratching to figure out where a couple of tools sit on the rack. You'll figure it out, but again the illustration could be clearer.
While the top of the hose rack secures with a screw, the bottom does not. I noticed that one other reviewer said that the bottom of the rack (no screw to secure it) would not stay in place. I initially had the same problem. However, I looked at that bottom rack a bit closer and there's a tab that needs to snap in place and if you don't do it just right, it will keep falling off. Play with it and you'll see what I mean. If that bottom hose rack is popping off, you probably haven't installed it correctly. It's not hard, but you need to slide the lower hose rack piece in just right so that it clicks and locks into place. It's not just gravity that's holding it in place, but that's what you'll think if you don't do it right.
The only other problems I had was that my knee and/or the cord kept knocking the hose off of the hose rack and onto the floor. I'm no engineer, but I think it could somehow be secured a bit better. Once, I knocked the hose off and then put it back on the rack. However, the head's trigger was pushed on the stain brush, which I didn't notice. By the time I discovered that the button was pushed, my leg was very wet and the brush had soaked my wallet and remote control. Fortunately, they are fine, but keep an eye on that so you don't spray cleaning fluid where you don't want it. Also, the coiled power cord rests right next to the coiled hose and they interfere with each other. I can't help but think that they could have designed this a bit better.
I went back and forth as to whether to give this unit 4 or 5 stars. If you solely look at whether it does what you expect it to, it's a 5 star item. It cleans your carpet well and gets out a lot of visible dirt. There are a few minor issues, but overall this is a nice carpet cleaner and it cleans very well. However, I knocked that hose off so many times either with my knee or the cord that I have to give it 4 stars.
I think that this Bissell will go a long way towards keeping your carpets looking nice and potentially extending the life of your flooring. I recommend it, despite a few minor issues.

Bissell Pawsitively Clean Yikes Compact Deep Cleaner Review

Bissell Pawsitively Clean Yikes Compact Deep Cleaner
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I rent a Rug Doctor every few months to handle cleaning my sofa & cow hide rug from my 4 cats. I was skeptical since the reviews said that this didn't actually suck up the water, but it does just as good a job as a Rug Doctor.- Meaning it leaves things wet, but yields a water tank full of dirty water. You have to make sure everything is put together correctly and that the chamber the water empties into is shut tight in order to make a vaccum seal. I hope to be able to use this on other upholstery, the blinds, and for cleaning the bed. The only thing preventing me is the hose length.
The pros: it's smaller and quieter than the Rug Doctor; it doesn't need anti-foam liquid to work; it heats water and has bristles (unlike the RD)- which is great for fluffing up the texture on the microfiber couch.
Cons: It needs a longer hose to reach the back of the couch; it has a clunky holder for the tools that makes it look poorly designed; it can't get serviced after every use like the Rug Doctor, so I hope it lasts a while.
I vowed to never buy another Bissell when my first hand-held wet vac died after a couple uses. So I am surprised this one is feeling like it's going to last. We'll see. I just go it today and I'll update this when I have my first problem.

Woolite Oxy Deep Spot & Stain Carpet Cleaner 22 fl oz (650 ml) Review

Woolite Oxy Deep Spot and Stain Carpet Cleaner 22 fl oz (650 ml)
Average Reviews:

As a mother with 3 young children, 1 dog, and 9 wool rugs.....I consider myself a bit of a rug stain cleaning expert. I purchased this to see if it would take out the freshly created fluorescent orange (Juicy Juice) stain from our oriental rug. It did not remove the stain. I then tested it just days later on an fresh ink stain and it removed about 1/2 of the ink. A bright pink stain (again, probably Juicy Juice) that was from years ago did not come out (I had to give it a TRY!!). The one stain that it performed nicely on was a yellowed area from my dog....it had been cleaned but was still stained. The yellowing is now gone! Bottom line, there are some stains that this will not work on, even though the package says it works for ink, juice, etc. etc.

Dirt Devil Spot Scrubber Review

Dirt Devil Spot Scrubber

Oh, how I wish I had checked reviews before I bought this product! Whoever designed this product was apparently a hateful, vengeful person who secretly wants to ruin the day of housewives everywhere. Some of my favorite features of this product are:
When you are cleaning up a disgusting spot of something, this device will randomly spew the dirty water out of the side vents, usually all over your legs as you are crouched over the spot trying to remove it. This happens when the product has a bare tablespoon of dirty water. Would it have been so hard to, I don't know, make the holding tank big enough to hold the dirty water? Or maybe make it where, when slightly full, the dirty water goes ANYWHERE other than on you and your house? Have you ever smelled hot dog urine water that has been steamed out of a vent? That smell will stay in your house for MONTHS, and no amount of spot scrubbing will help.
The scrub brush is pretty much useless, it kind of scrubs the spot, but you have to put so much pressure on the scrubber to make it reach the carpet you end up with a cramp in your wrist. You also can't really get the brush clean, it's in an awkward spot on the device.
You need the strength of a gorilla to pry the plug that keeps the dirty water in the holding tank. (Haha KEEPS it in the tank? What a laugh!) You will have to grab an awkward green tab and yank and pull and curse and...BOOM it pops open and spews that dirty water (what is left of it after the vents steamed it all over you) all over your face.
The price is good, but do you really want to pay money to curse and hate and loath every time your dog makes a piddle on the carpet? This product is poorly designed, I've been using it for 6 months now, and I'm about to throw it in the garbage and buy something else. I won't even give this thing away to someone, there isn't anyone in the world I hate that much.

Capture Dry Rug Cleaner Kit (820586) Review

Capture Dry Rug Cleaner Kit (820586)

Recently used this kit rather than our steam cleaner, which does a great job, due to time constraints. Was very pleased. It took me about an hour to do our large living room and stairs, compared to three hours plus drying time for the steam cleaner. The results were almost (80-90%) as good. Want to add that you need a good vacuum. I tried this product some years ago and had poor results because my old vacuum just couldn't remove all of the powder.

Euroflex Monster Floor Steam Cleaner EZ1 Red Review

Euroflex Monster Floor Steam Cleaner EZ1 Red
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have tile in my kitchen, dining room, living room, hallway, bathrooms, and entryway.
Pros:
- Takes 15 minutes to read the instructions and put together.
- Easy to fill - it comes with a cup with a convenient spout, though, I used my own small funnel to make pouring even easier.
- Heats up really fast 5 minutes or less with room temp water.
- Instructions say the inside of the boiler doesn't need to be cleaned if you use distilled water.
- No chemicals are needed.
- Cord is long enough to clean a large area from one plug.
- My floor didn't make my socks dirty after I was done mopping, so it was really clean!
- Really fluffed up my shag rugs.
- Less messy than normal mopping because floors dry faster and there is no splashing or dirty water.
Cons:
- The handle is plastic - the trigger for the front steam works well, but the handle seems kind of flimsy, I expect it to break before the rest of the appliance does.
- It doesn't fit under counter edges very well because the boiler is on top of the mop head. The position of the boiler helps make the steam as hot as possible, and it is very hot. The front steam jets can be used to steam under the counters and then wipe up or vacuum later.
- Might not be able to deeply clean carpets - My rugs do not look clean really, just fluffy, after using a full tank of steam on them. Maybe it will take a few cleanings for them to improve. (To clean carpets you have to first steam them and then vacuum.)
Things to keep in mind:
- This is just a mop, you have to vacuum first to maximize cleaning.
- No "clean floor" smell because you're not supposed to use chemicals with it. It's worth it though!

Hoover 40322032 Spot-and-Stain Cleaner with Trigger-Spray Bottle, 32 Ounces
I purchased the carpet shampooer at the same time I bought this item.
I sprayed the very dirty (3 year old grandson dirty and stained light color carpet) and let it set per the directions. All the stains came out and carpet looks almost like new. What I like this product best for though is the light colored grout in my ceramic tile. I thought it was dark charcoal color but I knew better because I had it installed and the grout is a light taupe color. I sprayed the grout and let the product set on it for a few min then took a stiff brush and brushed it and now it is the correct color. It took very little brushing to make my grout line look new again. I am back to order more of this product. I highly recommend it. Go ahead and buy 4 bottles of it so you get one free. You know those dirty grease marks by your cabinet door handles. Wellll mine are sparkling clean now and it did not hurt the wood at all. mew

Great for pre-treating before deep cleaning, this spot-and-stain cleaner offers easy removal of tough stains. Its improved formula includes FiberCoat to help protect carpet fibers with a stain-fighting coating. In addition, the spot-and-stain cleaner contains no fluorocarbons and comes in a 32-ounce trigger-spray bottle for convenient dispensing. The bottle measures approximately 4-4/5 by 3 by 11-1/5 inches.

Hoover OXY Detergent, 48 Ounces, AH30140 Review

Hoover OXY Detergent, 48 Ounces, AH30140
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
My wife & I just finished off our first 48 oz. bottle of Hoover's Oxy Detergent. All that I can say is that I was really hoping for more from this product. We have shampooed two main rooms with this detergent and a Hoover SteamVac Carpet Cleaner, All-Terrain, F7452900, and it is from this that I base my review.
One of these rooms is our family room which contains a door to the garage. The carpet by that door is an obvious problem area. The other problem is the plain & simple fact that it is the family room. The amount of traffic in that room can be seen as a dingy path in front of the seating. Overall, the SteamVac seemed to pull up a lot of dirt, but this review is about the cleaner & not the...well....cleaner (SteamVac). Aside from the SteamVac lifting up copious amounts of mid- to fine-grained dirt, I cannot tell any difference in the brightness of the carpet between areas that I repeatedly shampooed and those areas that were not cleaned at this time.
In the second room (our 'formal' living room), there were a couple of spots from one spill or another (prior to getting a carpet shampooer). The same condition as above applies here. I repeatedly scrubbed a couple small, spotted areas and a quick passover on the traffic pathways. At the end, there is no discernible difference between the clean but uncleaned, the lightly cleaned, and the thoroughly scrubbed sections of carpet.
If I had seen some kind of improvement in the coloration or renewed rebound in the pile of the carpet, I might think that the Oxy cleaner was at work. Unfortunately, it not only failed to lighten up some of our Kool-Aid stains, but it left virtually no difference in look or feel between cleaned & (clean) uncleaned carpet. I can draw no other conclusion than it is no more effective than any of the cheaper detergents. To that end, save yourself a couple dollars, and buy regular detergent. If nothing else, spend those couple dollars on a pre-treat spray of some type.
