Haan FS-20+ Plus Cloths Review

Haan FS-20+ Plus Cloths
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I purchased the Haan 20 Steam Mop about two weeks ago. I have used it countless times already!! The first time I used it I thought it wasn't doing anything...until I did the paper towel test. I scrubbed the area I just went over with the steam mop and the paper towel was WHITE!! I then scrubbed an adjacent area that I did not steam and the paper towel turned gray. We have a very busy household with a dog and a two year old. I cleaned all of our sealed hardwood floors and ceramic tile and now when my 2 year old runs around in her white socks they STAY WHITE!! It is truly amazing. I feel like an infomercial but I really could not be happier with this purchase. My husband got black shoe polish all over our light hardwood floors. Soap and water would not budge it. I pulled out the steam mop just to try it out...shoe polish came right up with one run over it with the steam mop. WOW!! Another plus is that as long as you change the pads regularly the floors are completely dry once you pass over an area. So you don't have to worry about family and pets tracking their dirty shoes and paws through your freshly mopped floors.
Now the cons (though not that bad to me):
1. You are tethered to an outlet. Not too much a problem as we have many outlets all over the house. If you are like me you were changing the water in the mop bucket frequently when using a regular mop...so moving a cord around is much preferred in my book.
2. You have to fill the mop with 8oz of water every 20 minutes or so. A little red light comes on to tell you to fill it up. I have to add water about 4 times to do all the high traffic areas in my home.
3. The microfiber pads need to be changed regularly. Once the pad is saturated it starts to leave wetness that lingers on the floor. If I use two microfibers pads per 8oz. fill-up it seems to be the perfect balance. I have 6 microfiber pads and that is perfect for my 1800 sq ft house.
4. Using the steam mop is a little slower than regular mopping. You don't just rush the mop over the floor. You have to move a little slower so that it has time to steam up the mess and then grab it in the microfiber pad. This adds a little extra time but totally worth it since there are no chemicals and the floor is completely sanitized. I sure wish I had this product when my daughter was crawling. It would have saved time and my back from scrubbing the floors by hand.
Oh, I have the carpet attachment. This is great for sanitizing the carpet, bedding and upholstery. We are an allergic household so it seems to work well for this. You do not use the microfiber pads when using this attachment so I am not sure that it would remove stains. I have not tried it for that yet...but I will when I have the chance.

Hoover U5468-900 WindTunnel Supreme Bagged Upright Vacuum Cleaner Review

Hoover U5468-900 WindTunnel Supreme Bagged Upright Vacuum Cleaner
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
When my husband and I decided to replace our 12-year old Hoover, we did hours of internet research on vacuums. Eventually, we decided to stick with a bag model, as dealing with canisters and filters sounded like too much trouble (plus, we don't have pets, so we didn't really see the need). After weighing various factors, from special features to ease of use to price, we decided to go with this Hoover Windtunnel model.
We got a great price using Amazon's discount offer, and the vacuum shipped very quickly despite our choice of Super Saver shipping. The unit required only simple assembly, although I should note that our package was missing a required bolt, so we had to contact Hoover for a replacement and wait another week or so before we were able to complete assembly and use the vacuum. Finally, we had the opportunity to try our new product. The first thing we noticed was the sound, as this vacuum, while still loud, is noticeably quieter than our old Hoover. Second, the cord is significantly longer (about 30 feet), which is very convenient for maneuvering around our home. My husband also appreciated the convenience of the headlight, although to be fair, most newer models include this feature.
As far as cleaning ability goes, this vacuum does a good job. It doesn't necessarily out-perform our old vacuum, but it does seem to stir up less dust. Also, the larger vacuum head speeds up the chore time a bit (although it also makes it harder to fit in tight places). The dirt indicator light did seem to be consistent with areas that required a bit more attention, which was nice. Another feature of this vacuum is the build-in handle at the unit's base for cleaning stairs; this was a nice idea, but my husband (who does the majority of the vacuuming in our house--lucky me!) found it to be a bit cumbersome and uncomfortable to use.
Overall, we are happy with our choice of this vacuum, a solid performer that can be purchased via Amazon at a very reasonable price. If you are living in a home with no pets and looking for a good basic vacuum, this would be an excellent choice.
UPDATE JULY 2008: Unfortunately, I need to downgrade my review of this vacuum, as its performance has deteriorated over time, and we are currently in the market to purchase a new one. My husband, who is the main user of the vacuum, compiled the following list of complaints:
1. The on/off switch ceased working shortly after the one-year warranty period expired. Currently, the vacuum can only be turned on or off by plugging and unplugging the unit from an electrical outlet.
2. The height adjuster failed, also shortly after the one-year warranty period expired; the vacuum now leaves an odd-looking wave pattern on the carpet unless it is used at the highest setting (which is the least effective).
3. The natural forward momentum of the vacuum stopped after only a few months of use, making the unit more difficult to push.
4. The dirt indicator light seems arbitrary and thus virtually useless.
5. The vacuum is awkward to use on stairs: the place to grab is not a handle--rather, it is just an indentation in the plastic, which becomes painful to hold after only a few seconds.
6. The cord does not remain attached to the clamps on vacuum during use: when the cord is fully extended, it pulls loose of the clamps, causing it to constantly get underfoot.
7. The vacuum's motor "revs" loudly at random times and for no apparent reason.
8. The dirt bags are difficult both to attach and to remove.
9. The vacuum does not perform well on hard floors: it blows dirt around, necessitating several passes.
10. The vacuum feels heavy and has a wide head, making cleaning in tight spaces difficult.

Equipped with a 12 amp motor and patented WindTunnel technology, this bagged upright vacuum cleaner delivers powerful cleaning performance. The unit's 15-inch-wide cleaning path with a dual brush agitator gets the job done quickly, while edge groomers effectively clean near baseboards and furniture. In addition, its five height settings allow for switching from bare floors to carpets with ease, and the cleaner's Embedded DirtFinder system provides red and green indicator lights to alert users to areas that may need more cleaning attention. The unit also comes with a HEPA allergen filtration bag that traps 99.98-percent of all particles down to 0.3 microns, plus a washable secondary filter, located in the bag compartment, which protects the motor from dirt particles. For thorough cleaning, on-board tools include a deluxe stretch hose, two extension wands, a dusting brush, an upholstery nozzle, and a crevice tool for hard-to-reach areas. Exclusive upfront tool storage keeps all the tools within easy reach. Other highlights include fingertip on/off power control, a headlight, a 31-foot power cord, a full-bag indicator, and a carrying handle for easy transport. The vacuum cleaner measures 13 by 15 by 43 inches and carries a one-year warranty.

This is the best carpet cleaning shampoo out there, it also is the most expensive. It is requires less soap per gallon though but I have not used anything better than it. It has been on the market for 20 years and it is still the best carpet shampoo solution out there. I love this stuff, I just wish it was cheaper as it has a strong clean smell as that is what you want. Listen there are a lot of good bonnet cleaning solutions but this is the best. I have searched online to find a cheaper deal but there isn't a lower price anywhere.Gallon Carpet Shampoo Concentrate (MCO08205) Category: Carpet Cleaning Machine Chemicals [...]

If you own a dog or a cat and their shedding is driving you crazy then this is the item you need. I love mine!! It is the size of a paint roller and it makes rolling hair off of your clothes and especially furniture and bed SO much quicker. Also EVERCARE is the only way to go because it is the stickiest. Worth the investment. I don't have to pull out the vacuum constantly anymore.

I have been using these for several months now and find them very easy to use, with no question that you are using the right amount of product or making a mess trying to pour the concentrate into the awkwardly shaped measuring cup. I think they get the job done well! My carpets always look clean after I use them.

That Orange Stuff 16 oz. Review

That Orange Stuff 16 oz.
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I recently bought and used this cleaner and was really impressed with how well it did. It's a concentrate, so once it's diluted, the price is very inexpensive. I was surprised at how many different jobs it did around the house! I was planning on just cleaning the sinks and ended up unclogging drains, cleaning the toilets and mirrors. It can also be used in carpet cleaners, so I'm planning on trying that next. I also read that it fixes squeaky hinges. I like that it's an organic product but at the same time gets the job done well. So many organic products I've tried in the past did not work as well as the regular cleaners. Plus, this cleaner has such a nice, light scent that I don't have to air out the room when I'm done. All in all, I was very impressed and ordered two more bottles!

Woolite Pet Stain Review

Woolite Pet Stain
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have this in the smaller size. Its not a perfect solution, and I actually prefer Vinegar and Baking soda. I wasn't initially following the instructions exactly, but we all live and learn. I now have my stain treatment in order.
Note: it is very important to pre test on fabric. I was tired and forgot, needed immediate cleaning of sofa. Usually, repeated treatment with Vinegar and Baking Soda would have worked, but used same treatment as carpet. Part of sofa now different color. However, it is old sofa, and is covered with nice kitty throw.
One of my cats occasionally pukes. Its usually a long lasting stain. I used this immediately, as directed - and the puke is gone. Scoop up excess and any debris on floor (paper towels and extra store plastic bag come in handy). Spray and leave on 3 to 5 minutes. Have bucket of warm water ready. Use dust rag/old dish towel to rinse off spray (important - because I wasn't doing this part, carpet had residue and kitty skin was reacting). Switch from dust rag to sponge, try to sop up moisture while rinsing. Follow up with 100% White Vinegar Spray, continue with sponge to wipe deep into carpet (this removes germs, mildew - and provides other cleaning for carpet besides stain removal). Cover with towel until dry. Next day, use towel for wipe up with Hydrogen Peroxide if desired - added benefit.
It gets 4 stars, because cat smell in carpet requires a bit more (and it doesn't clean down deep, sorta masks odors). I've ordered the Bissell QuickSteamer Multi-Surface Upright Deep Cleaner, 2090 to supplement, and use this as a pretreatment as I go throughout the apartment.
All in all, 4 stars for what it does do (at least, some sanitation has been realized).

Bissel Little Green Hand Held Deep Cleaner Review

Bissel Little Green Hand Held Deep Cleaner
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
hmm, guess I can't come up with something to compare. I just raised a puppy and have a geriatric dog. I have two cats, a husband who is just learning to wipe his feet at age 40, and live in a chronically muddy part of North America. We have only one small carpeted room in our home, but it's immediately inside the back door. We have no storage space. I'm frugal. After 3 refills of the cleaning fluid tank (and 3 'empties' of the dirty tank) my carpet is blue again and the room smells incredibly clean. I know the intent of Little Green is for spots and stairs, but I figured for a little more than the cost of renting a cleaner (plus supplies) I might get a tool I can use again and again in the ongoing fight against muddy shoes and geriatric pets. Boy, was I right. It's a great, storage friendly little carpet cleaner that's worth every penny. I gave it 4 out of 5 stars only because I wish it came with the 6 inch cleaning head in addition to the standard "tough stain tool."

Electrolux EL6988E Oxygen Canister Vacuum Review

Electrolux EL6988E Oxygen Canister Vacuum
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)

We had two mid-range Kenmore canister vacs prior to this.
The Electrolux Oxygen (EL6988E) is many ways better and many ways worse.
Check out the list for what matters most to you.
Prices bounce around. Low tide for this model is about 325 delivered.
Better:
* Quieter (significantly)
- Power head pivots in both directions and has larger wheels. Easier to maneuver.
- Wand length adjusts (34" to 47")
- 2-year warranty (vs 1-year for Kenmore)
- LED headlights & height indicator
- Bag-full indicator light (Kenmore's is less visible)Toss-up:
- Suction is quite good
- 3rd party bags: 36 Oxygen Vacuum Bags are available at 50% savings (as with Kenmore)
- Auto shut-off when motor overheats or power head stalls
- Weight: 22.8 lbs (16.9 without power head). Kenmore is 21.5 lbs (16.3)
- Floor Brush: Electrolux is 60 % wider (13.7" vs 8.5") (but suction is less concentrated)
- Both Kenmores died after 5.5 years. Will Electrolux last longer?Worse:
* Cord is only 20.3 ft long (Kenmore is 30% longer. 26.5 ft. Very handy.)
* Dust bag is 40% smaller (appx 180 vs 300 cu. in.) (More expense, more hassle)
* Hose is flimsy (Big difference vs Kenmore) (and replacement is $47)
* Lacks swivel hose mount on base unit. (Hose kinks and will eventually crack)
* Power switch is on the base, not the handle. (and is easily confused with the cord-retract button)
* Floor brush can't be stored on-board (Small nozzle & furniture brush store on the wand handle)
* Generic nozzles won't fit. Only Electrolux nozzles.
* More expensive. (Check Panasonic model that's almost identical to the Kenmores we had.)
- Manual is less useful. Fewer tips & troubleshooting details. Doesn't include full parts diagram & part numbers. Electrolux provides fewer product specifications at their Web site.
I am comparing to a 2005 Kenmore mid-range vac. Current models may differ.
Check reviews for the Panasonic MC-CG902 Canister Vacuum Cleaner. It's about identical to the mid-range Sears Kenmore canister vac.
Summary: A good vac with lots of flaws: 3.5 stars.

My mother lives in a small apartment in a senior building. She no longer has a vacuum cleaner, and does have cleaning service once a week. She remembered having a Hoky and wished for another. I was so pleased to find them still for sale and order her one. She loves it. I am thinking about getting us another one for those in between pick ups. Thanks for filling the void and still making these.

Bissell 9200 Proheat 2x Deep Cleaner
Average Reviews:

I've had two of them and I'm giving up and going back to the Hoover. The Bissell is easier to use, but the quality is just terrible! My first one died in a little over year (just out of warranty). It basically stopped spraying consistently. Since I liked how it worked, I thought I'd give them another chance. The second one did the same thing in less than a week!
Save your money and buy one of the cheaper Hoovers. It is a little more difficult to use (in terms of changing to the hand tool, pre-mixing solution, etc.) but the previous Hoover lasted 5 or 6 years! No more Bissell for me.

I like the way this steamer cleans my floors. But with that said... it is a TOTAL waste of money!!
After the 1 year warranty expired ( basically to the day) the handle broke. Called Euroflex customer service, ha - service not !, to bad i was told. So after i already invested $$$ on the darn steamer, i shelled out another $30 for a new handle. AND was promised how much better the NEW handle on EZ2 was, lie, lie, lie. 3 months after using new handle, new improved handle snaps, called customer NOT service again, will replace handle BUT no warranty, will not stand behind product and basically told me to buy a new one next time. Sure, i'll shell out another $120+, $$ for pads and customer service that does not stand behind their product ! Euroflex must thk US consumers are morons!

Hoover H1005 Deluxe Handheld Mop/Steam Cleaner Review

Hoover H1005 Deluxe Handheld Mop/Steam Cleaner
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The wife wanted a handheld steam cleaner to get to the tight, tough to reach spots and also to help sterilize the baby's toys, etc. We tried the parent's cleaner from Shark and were thrilled with the results, but didn't want to put a ton of money into one, so we figured a brand name company like Hoover would have a great product. Boy, were we wrong. Upon initial inspection, the cleaner looks really impressive. Upon use, my opinion changed fast. The cleaner "heats" really fast, but it never really gets hot (I was able to hold my hand 3 inches from the nozzle and it only felt warm). The steam runs continuously, there is no way to start/stop the steam without turning the unit off and then back on and waiting for it to warm back up (although you can vary the amount of steam). There is really no force/pressure behind the steam coming out either (it pretty much just gets stuff wet). The "jet" nozzle only points downward also, making it near impossible to get in between tight spots or next to the floor. There could be a saving grace somewhere with this machine, but after an hour of refilling the tank, turning the machine on & off, waiting for it to heat, and getting cramps from twisting/bending to get this huge cleaner into tight spots, we promptly packaged it back up and returned it to Amazon without even trying any other attachments because we were so disappointed (without even giving it a second thought). Guess we will have to fork out the extra money to get one that really works as advertised.

NEW Rug Doctor Wide Track Pro Carpet Shampooer SteamVac Review

NEW Rug Doctor Wide Track Pro Carpet Shampooer SteamVac
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I own 2 Bissel cleaners, 1 pro heat and the other is even older. I wanted to try one of these thinking I might buy one because my other 2 are getting some age on them and I have had to repair the oldest one. This unit does a very good job as long as you are cleaning out in the middle of a room (away from walls & ect.). The brush on it agitates back and forth so it will get both sides of the nap. It however does not get very close to edges and when you start cleaning it doesn't start putting out solution very close to the front so you have to have attatchments to get close to walls, stairways, large furniture that you may not want to move each time you clean ect. Also it is big which makes it more awkward for spot cleaning. I don't know if it really cleaned THAT much better than my pro heat (I bought it when they first came out a few years ago - it's not the newest model), but you don't have to stop and add water/clean the pickup tank nearly as often. Another drawback to this machine is that you have to mix the cleaning solution and the water. On the Bissels, you have seperate tanks and if you want to go all water to rinse a spot you just cleaned or go heavier on the cleaning solution for grimier areas, you can just turn a knob. Also in the commericals they would have you believe that the carpets will dry faster. I'm not sure if that is true.
Don't get me wrong, it is a very good cleaner, and it is built like a tank, I'm not sure it is worth almost $1000 ($800 more than the newer Bissel we have which also heats the water, or keeps it good and hot anyway).
We have 3 dogs and 1 clutsy teenage boy still at home, and they keep me busy cleaning carpets. If it really did THAT much better of a job than what I have, I would buy one. Or maybe if the price was a little more in line, at least $300 cheaper. I hope this helps.
